Ubuntu Bionic samba 4.9.11 and 4.10.6 are now available. (amd64/i386)
Hi Louis,
Thanks a lot for providing that service. I do have unattended-upgrades active, but it didn?t pull your new version. I guess it is because your repository is not listed as a repo to be considered for automated upgrades, but I am struggling with what exactly into the list Unattended-Upgrade::Allowed-Origins. I tried "deb:bionic-samba410"; but that didn?t do the trick...
Thanks,

Debian Buster Samba 4.13 online (amd64/i386/armhf )
Hai,
?
Debian Buster Samba 4.13 is now online on my repo.
Info : https://apt.van-belle.nl/
With the release of 4.13 the following changes are going to happen in the repo's.
Current (recently sended?list)
OS-sambaXXXX with EOL wont be supported anymore, upgrade your OS and/or Samba versions!
EOL repo's will stay online for about 6 months, that gives sufficient time to upgrade.

Debian Buster Samba 4.13 online (amd64/i386/armhf )
Not that i know off, but if your on buster, your not using /etc/init.d/samba-ad-dc??and that?should have been purged while upgrading long ago already.?
I recommend you check the installed packages on leftovers, and if you find them, use : apt-get remove --purge xxPackagexx
You should use systemd and it services:
# /lib/systemd/system/samba-ad-dc.service

Hai Guys,
The Ubuntu Bionic packages are now also available, ( updating repo in about 5 min )
New: added i386 support for bionic.
The following has been done:
Ubuntu Bionic samba 4.10 amd64/i386 : Updated from 4.10.2 to samba 4.10.4.
I needed to move one file to another package to allow a i386 build while
lmdb is enabled for the Amd64 builds.

Ubuntu Bionic Samba 4.9.13 and 4.10.8 packages online now (amd64/i386)
Hai,
Well, not exactly, if you coming from source builds.
In that case is suggest.
Pick a repo line matching your self compiled samba.
If thats a 4.9, choose the 4.9 repo line to add to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/van-belle.list file.
Stop the self compiled samba version.
Disable starting the selfcompiled samba.
Reboot you server to make sure nothing has openfiles, or check this manualy.

Upgrading from Debian Stretch to Buster, Van Belle package
Hello Louis,
Sorry for my late answer.
I couldn't work on that earlier.
So I did steps:
stretch-samba48
stretch-samba49
stretch-samba410
Then when your at 4.10 you can safe upgrade to buster to
buster-samba410
At last step, apt-get dist-upgrade, bind9 failed:

Hai,
Ok, for me so i know where you now at.
Looks like your in the middle of the dist-upgrade in buster.
Rowland is correct, looks like bind is upgrading and samba-libs is not yet installed.
If samba-libs is installed, lookup this line in you bind config.
include "/var/lib/samba/bind-dns/named.conf";
Open "/var/lib/samba/bind-dns/named.conf" and verify if its set to

Yes, isn't that apt pinning? Should it be different?

I thought I did already ;-)
There is no
/etc/apt/preferences
and nothing in
/etc/apt/preferences.d
(the apt config comes from my ansible setup)

Debian Stretch, Samba 4.10.2, 4.9.6 and 4.8.11 Available (amd64/i386)
Hi,
short question - when running "samba -V" I recieve a version of:
Version 4.10.2-Ubuntu
But my OS running is Debain 9.8 (stretch) amd64.
My entry within sources.list is:
deb http://apt.van-belle.nl/debian stretch-samba410 main contrib non-free
Is this correct / wanted behavior (that version reporting back is 'Ubuntu'
even for debian)?
I think within the last version

ow ow .. slapping myself.. I forgot my note about the VERSION file..
That you see this : Version 4.10.2-Ubuntu
is because i use a Ubuntu as base for the 4.10 builds.
I'll correct that, but there is no difference in the packages once this is corrected back to Version 4.10.2-Debian.
It just a "version-name"

Louis
