Can't Turn OFF compiz autostart since 0.7.4.x
Devs, compiz listmates:
Why can't I turn off compiz autostart on openSuSE 10.3 i386? Compiz just
decided to start automatically with KDE login ever since I upgraded to the
first 0.7.4.x release from the openSuSE build service. I have tried to disable
it by creating the file "disable-compiz" in ~/.config/compiz but compiz still
starts at login. Even if I switch to kwin before

wsod since upgrading to 1.1
I just upgraded to 1.1 and I am now getting the wsod for errors that
used to display on the screen. E.G. NoMethodError gives wsod. Does any
one know what caused this and how I can go back to the previous
behavior?

Odd error handling in ActionView#compile_template causes WSOD
If a view file cannot be compiled (eg it has a block with a missing
''end'' statement), I''m experiencing WSODs - the browser reports a lost
network connection, rather than the helpful compilation error that we
used to have.
When the compilation fails, ActionView#compile_template raises this
error :
TemplateError.new(find_base_path_for(file_name || template), file_name

render file in helper causes WSOD
If I use render :file=>... in a helper function, Rails dies with a
white-screen-of-death (with nothing about it in development.log), but it
works in a controller function, and other render functions (like render
:text) work in the helper function.

White Screen of Death
Hello, I''ve heard these words to describe a RoR application returning an
empty page.
This happen from time to time even here, in the forum.
That is the cause of this misbehaviour ? Is it related with something
external to RoR itself ?
What is the solution to avoid the WSOD ?

Problems with compiz, fglrx, and City of Heroes
I just upgraded my video card from an 8800GT to a Radeon HD 5770. I've got the proprietary 'fglrx' driver installed. I am using Compiz/Emerald as my window manager and compositor, with the desktop cube enabled.
When I launch City of Heroes full-screen and then try to rotate the cube via hotkey the cube rotates to a new face and immediately repaints City of Heroes over the top of it.

Compiz starts, but no 3D effects
I just installed Compiz on Ubuntu Feisty (Gutsy does not work on my
hardware as per the release notes) via the
http://ppa.launchpad.net/amaranth/ubuntu repo, which is the repo
suggested in the compiz-fusion website. The machine is a Dell Inspiron
E1505 / 6400 with the horrible ATI X1400 graphics card and 1680x1050
monitor. I installed XGL and the proprietary ATI driver, a combination
that worked

White Cube of Death - fglrx_7_1_0_SUSE103-8.452.1-1
Listmates (only posting to one list)
Compiz has been running great with the 8.433 driver except for the
libGL SONAME lockup on exit.
see: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=344135
I just built and installed the 8.452 driver. Compiz would not start
with the normal fusion-icon approach that I have been using with the
8.433 driver. This is on my Toshiba P35 laptop with an ATI

Compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0 -- Success! But need help with a few issues.
Dominique, cc: compiz,
Dominique, you wanted the feedback, and List, I need your help. I have
installed and fully configured (kicked the tires) on compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0
and on balance it is great. There are a few weird things going on. Most notably,
the number of options in ccsm that now uncheck themselves. In the past (compiz
0.5.6 - 0.8.2) there may have been one or two that would stick

"prob" package alternative
The prob package has been archived because it depends upon some other
packages which have issues.
However, such projects as Introduction to Probability and Statistics in R
depend upon it for learning. There are a few other resources that also use
it.
Does anyone know of any workarounds?
Someone at stack exchange mentioned using R 2.9. However, that broke my
RStudio (WSOD) and the dependent

Java animations, Google Earth flashing with Compiz enabled
On a Dell Inspiron E1505 / 6400 with the ATI x1400 video card running
the fglrx driver on Kubuntu 8.04, I have some video problems while
running Compiz. I am not using XGL, in fact, I removed it from the
system as it was causing performance issues. The symptoms I describe
here were present before removing XGL, as well as after.
The test applet on java.com flashes (as if it disappears between

Running Compiz in XGL
I have a Dell Inspiron with the ATI x1400 video card. In Ubuntu 7.04 I
ran Compiz-Fusion in XGL with the fglrx drivers and the system was
very responsive. I noticed no performance penalties at all. In Ubuntu
8.04 I am running Compiz natively with the current fglrx drivers, and
the system is sluggish. Disabling Compiz makes the system very
responsive. So I am interested in running Compiz in XGL

Bewildered by Radeon x1650 Card - No Compiz, Blank glxgears, good frame rates?
Listmates,
No response from the suse list, so I am trying here. I bought a new HIS Radeon
x1650 card for my daughter's computer, and I cannot get the card to work with
compiz. I thought I knew the fglrx driver pretty well, but I am stumped here.
The card has 512M of Ram and sits in the AGP slot of an MSI KM2M board running
openSuSE 11.0/KDE 3.59 and compiz-0.7.6-16.1. All bios setting are

"prob" package alternative
The issue is fAsianOptions. Is there a version that works with the latest
version of R? If not, which version of it works with which version of R and
where can it be found? I tried several at the archive already.
Alternatively, is there another package that behaves similarly to prob?

compiz-0.7.6-16.1 - Forces Yast s/w management to full-screen no decorations
Listmates:
For the past 1 or 2 compiz releases, for some reason it opens Yast software
management full-screen with no window decorations in kde.
kwin gives the normal windowed yast s/w management. Compiz also ignores the
special windows settings in kde for this package. Is there anything I can check
or tweak to correct this? Thanks.

Enhanced Zoom cursor in 0.7.6
Does Compiz-0.7.6 solve the problem with the 'waiting' cursor being
invisible when using the Enhanced Zoom plugin? I see mention of
'various bugfixes' but I couldn't find the appropriate bug to check
it's status. Thanks.
