Samba 3.6.23, Windows Server 2012 R2 AD Environment
I know it's an old release, and my apologies for wasting anyone's time.
I've been asked about an older version of AIX 7.1 with Samba 3.6.23
installed.
The requestor is moving to a Windows Server 2012 R2 domain.
They want AIX/Samba 3.6.23 to be a domain member, using the 2012 R2 AD to
authenticate users to access Samba shares on the AIX server.
This is the way it's working

VPN Routing issues from local IP to Big Internet IPs
Ok ladies and gents, I give up! I just can''t find a solution to the
problem.
Setup:
I have a linux box with 2.4.22-1.2197.nptl kernel running 2 eth and one
ppp connection over one of the eth for VPN tunneling.
I have 2 needs:
- masq and forward internal lan hosts via the tunnel on PPP and then on to
the big internet. No problem there. All works fine.
- Forward ppp0 native

Samba 4.10.6-1 Configuration on AIX
The below Globals section is reporting some testparm failures that don't
make sense to me.
Perhaps someone could shine a light for me?
This is a new installation - from 3.6.23 to 4.10.6-1.
Necessitated by a Windows Server 2016 DC being installed.
The testparm command, when run, reports the following error(s):

Samba 4.10.6-1 Configuration on AIX
Thanks to you and Louis for your guidance.
I really apologize for my lack of knowledge of AD and Samba; and I appreciate your patience and willingness to help.
And I apologize for not trimming the reply - don't know how much to retain...
The referenced document seems to be leveraging domain services that we're not using.
We are only using AD user authentication to access shares on AIX.

2 ISP connection sharing problem
Hi all,
I have a similar question like many asked before I know but Please
help as i cant figure out where the problem is and how should I tackle.
I have 2 ISP connections. I want to share the bandwidth from both. I have
copied the script from many places and created my own after changes. Problem
is that only one connection is utilized at a time. Not both working. ratio

kolabore.de now vorbisized, up and running angain
Hi!
FYI, the web site http://www.kolabore.de/ where we offer our own music
is now completely vorbisized. :-)
Because of the many releases we switched from direct download links to a
simple database/cgi, so if you stumble over any problems, please let me
know!
Thanks and bye,
Moritz

Oggenc & stdin
I haven't seen this in the options, and have been unsuccessful in trying
it...
Is there any way to set oggenc to accept data (file) input from stdin?
basically do a raw PCM stream from CDParanoia -> oggenc without an
intermediary file.
Thanks!

net ADS join MEMBER
In some spare time, been trying to get Samba 4.10.6-1 working on AIX.
Several earlier posts handled by Louis and Rowland. Which were much
appreciated and beneficial.
Using this stripped (leaving comments out of it) GLOBALS section of
smb.conf:

workgroup = boost
realm = BOOST.COM

I am trying to convert some a few WAV files to ogg format (using

I tried:

ERROR: Input file "nash.wav" is not a supported format
And:
splay -d - nash.wav | oggenc -r -o nash.ogg -

iptables - Forwarding with port translation thru an OpenVPN tunnel
Perhaps someone with a sharper brain than I can solve this little mystery.
I've Googled until I'm blue in the face, read all TFM's I can find, and
tried several iptables rule combinations but just can't get the following to
work. Here's my challenge:
I have a CentOS-5.3 "main" server with a static public IP address

Samba 4.10.6-1 Configuration on AIX
Thanks again for the continued help...
Current thinking is using rid for the backend does not place any new administrative functions on the staff - agree?
Begs questions of what is being written in smbpasswd, and do we have administrative work on AIX?
Such as adding users and a group or two in the range specified for idmap? A mapping "table"?
If rid is hands-off administration,

Weird DB Session error, "Mysql::Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query"
I''ve discovered something really weird in rails 1.2.3 (It could be
fixed in 2.0? but I don''t know).
Recently I started getting the error "Mysql::Error: Lost connection to
MySQL server during query" in my application. It seemed like it had
popped up almost without relation to anything. There was a page in the
RoR wiki with possible solutions but none of them had worked

Network configuration issue with second public ip on CentOS 6
Hi folks,
I have a server at Soyoustart.com (which is a brand of OVH). I run
CentOS 6.7 and have problems with network configuration.
I want to add a second public ip (failover ip) to the server and did
follow the instructions in the CentOS-section of
http://hilfe.ovh.de/AdministrationIpAliasHinzufuegen
After executing the required steps I'm not able to reach the host via

2.2.7 to 3.3.12 upgrade issue
Upgraded an AIX Server from AIX 5.3 TL3 with Samba 2.2.7 to AIX 7.1 TL3
with 3.3.12. Client uses AD authentication.
Upgrade did not change smb.passwd or smb.conf.
Windows users trying to mount a share are presented a request for their
credentials; whether they supply the AD or AIX credentials, the access
is denied - "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." The smbd

Domain Admins?
Hello all,
Let me say first I'm very new to Linux (only had it running 3 days), so
bear with me if I'm a bit ignorant. I'm unsure if I should even post
this here, or if this list is exclusively for hardware issues...
I'm running into difficulties (on a win2k client) adding the Samba
"Domain Admins" group to the Windows "Administrators" group. I am able

acts_as_taggable and single table inheritance
I''ve set up a couple of STI models like such that we get something like
this...
class A < AR:Base
class B < A
acts_as_taggable
class C < A
acst_as_taggable
(using the acts_as_taggable plugin)
I can tag things just fine this way, the problem I encounter is that the
taggings are listed with the base class ("A") and not the appropriate
subclass ("B"
