Samba 4.4.3 debian wheezy backport intructions
Hi,
Backported samba-4.4.3 from debian unstabel to debian wheezy today. May
be of interest for others so i share the instructions and patches here.
Ten packages from unstabel must be backported, I modified some to use
python2.7 and removed dependencies to python2.6 and python3 (the later
is not available in an recent enough version on wheezy/wheezy-backports).

In that case.
apt-get update
apt-get remove samba winbind --autoremove
apt-get dist-upgrade --autoremove
apt-get install samba winbind libnss-winbind libpam-winbind tdb-tools
apt-get dist-upgrade --autoremove --purge
As long as you dont use --purge, everything of samba will stay on the system and you able to install the buster version.

messy replication
Hai Rowland,
Yes, agree here, better correct DC1, then join new.
So i'll post this, its focused on Debian servers, but usable for any other.
I've run the debug on the company AD-DC server here.
A good example for an AD-DC setup with Bind9_DLZ.
And remember, most is on/from wiki.samba.org
Im running this. ( Debian Stretch as AD-DC )
This server started as a wheezy server and is

Attempts to Set Max Password Age in Samba Tool Fails
Hi,
I've raised a bug for this:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13873
The problem is the command just doesn't work under Python 3.
In the meantime, a work-around is to specify the --min-pwd-age on the
command as well. E.g.
samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --max-pwd-age=270
--min-pwd-age=default

You can find them in the repo stretch-unstable.

This version is alligned with the debian samba patches up to 4.8.2, but adapted in this 4.7.8.
The Build logs can be found here:

messy replication
Hi all,
I'm simply overwhelmed with both the speed and quality of responses.
I wish all mailing lists and forums were like this!
I'm going to follow your suggestions and try to follow the template below.
My choice of new DC will probably be 4.9.5 on buster.
What steps would you recommend to unlink my broken 4.0.9 -> 4.5.16
replication before shutting down 4.5.16?
Is it sufficient

Hai Guys,

The following has been done:
