SAMBA setup problem
Hi all,
Firstly, sorry for my english, is not the best.
I'm sure my question is simple, but I didn't find a solution.
I installed SAMBA 4.8.3 on CentOS 7.6.1810 so that it manages access to
some folders being shared across the network and also to manage user access
(logins) on domain-configured Windows computers. However, when I use a
computer that does not have a domain set up and try

If your OS wasn't Centos, I would say it would be easier to set up an AD

Samba as BDC: unable to write on shared folders
I use Samba as a PDC (non-AD-style) on the server n°1.
I have successfully created a BDC on the server n°2.
I followed the official guide SAMBA
(https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/samba-bdc.html)
On servers n°2 I have also transferred the users database from the
server n° 1

My Documents: Music shows, Pictures not so much
Hey all, I have a functioning Samba server in my test lab. All of my
must-haves are met.
My problem really boils down to a minor nuisance. Basically, when I log
the test users in and open My Documents I only see one folder: My Music.
Not that I really care but curiosity is killing me here and I can't
figure out why the My Pictures folder is not present also. On top of
that users love

Windows XP sees fedora14/samba3 shares but not fedora20/samba4 shares
Hello,
A windows XP machine 'X' (the only one left in the LAN) sees all
fedora14/samba3 shares on f14 machine 'A' but cannot see fedora20/samba4
shares on machines 'B' or 'C'.
'X' can ping all of the others by name, and all of the others 'A', 'B'
and 'C' CAN see ALL of the other shares INCLUDING on the XP machine 'X'.

Samba 2.0.7 on BSD/OS 4.2
Alright, I give up. I'm going to go out in the parking lot and
scream.
Over the years I have built many, many versions of Samba on many
versions of BSD[386,OS] and other unixen. I have never, ever had
trouble like this (except, of course, with Irix). Never with a
BSD.
4.2 ships with Samba 2.0.6 (why? -- 2.0.7 was released last
April). I've been running 2.0.7 on a DEC Alpha running OSF

Force Create Mode Problems
Hi there. I am using Samba 4.2.10 on Scientific Linux 7.1.
I am currently trying to make an SMB share that is accessible to all of our Active Directory domain users. Additionally, this share needs to allow read/write access for our clients, who are using FTP. All of the subdirectories for this share represent an individual FTP user's folder.
The share is named "ftpshares". The

Strange PDC issue
Hi all,
I have a really strange PDC issue:
windows clients are able to join and to login, however some clients have
permissions issue on their local machine, for example they cannot modify
settings suck as menubar, folder view, set quick start shortcuts ecc...
so they cannot use the pc. However if they create a desktop file or
folder on logoff their profiles are correctly updated.
