Configured AD backend but getting different uid and gid
Hi, Thanks for the advice, I know these are already EOL but please bear with me on that. I also do use CentOS 7 and Windows 10 for further testing. Anyway, I found out is due to my "idmap DOMAIN : range" value in smb.conf was not set to the correct range. Another thing is libnss-winbind package must make sure to be installed properly. After these things are resolved, I managed to see

s3 winbind loosing kerbers ticket
I have 2 CentOS 5.6 x86_64 servers configured with with samba 3.5.4, CTDB, GFS and DRDB in an avtive, active cluster. After some time winbind looses the ticket. After this I have to do a net ads join on the server to get things going. The main DC is a windows 2003 server with SP2. I do have 2 more samba 4 DC's that I use for backup authentication only that run on debian 6 that are a VM. Not

problem with domain and samba3x
Hi all About 18 months ago I connected 14 new Windows 7 PCs to a Centos5.1 server with samba3x as domain members. There are no other servers on site. Today, I had to visit to connect up a PC in a new location. As I would normally do I checked for Centos updates and found 35 outstanding including samba3x 3.6.23-12.el5_11 and samba3x-client, samba3x-common, samba3x-doc, samba3x-domainjoin-gui,

Samba AD Auth Stops After Patches
Hello, I have an issue that I can't sort out. Issue: Just applied the latest round of patches that brought me up to this Samba version and suddenly end-users are being prompted for authentication when attempting to access shares on this CentOS box from their Windows Vista, 7x86, and 7x64 workstations. Problem: I am new to Samba and seem to not be connecting the dots Layer 1: I can ping

upgrade samba
Hello to all, is the first time I write to this mailing list, I wanted to ask you a hand about an upgrade of samba I did on a centos 5.5 i386 with kernel 2.6.18-308.24.1.el5, which I updated with yum samba3x-3.3. 8-0.52.el5_5.2 bringing it to samba3x-3.6.6-0.129.el5. samba version to use on CentOS?
I see via yum that there is "samba" and there is "samba3x" available for CentOS (my boxes are hooked to the main CentOS repo, Fedora EPEL, and RPMFORGE). 'samba' is 3.0.33 'samba3x' is 3.3.8 Is there any down-side to upgrading to 'samba3x' and running 3.3.8 instead of 3.0.33? I'm assuming that, in general, I should be running the latest

samba 3 performance with windows 7 workstations
My customer has a Centos Linux 5.10 server running Samba 3. (Samba version 3.0.33-3.40.el5_10) The machine is about three years old. I suggested that they should consider replacing it with a Centos 6 machine and Samba 4, but they decided as it was doing its job without any issues to keep it as is. I also suggested updating to samba3x but they decided not to do this. I recently installed a centos

Unable to use more than 1000 concurrent ntlm_auth processes
Hi List, I'm running a heavily loaded squid server that uses ntlm_auth to provide NTLM authentication. As load has increased over time, I've found the need to increase the number of ntlm_auth processes available to squid as well as the "winbind max clients" value in the smb.conf file. This has worked well up until now but seems I've hit some sort of limit. If I keep the
