I have a server which we use for backing up files. Noticed there was an upgrade available to 18.04.1. Now I cannot connect to from my win7 machine to the Ubuntu share. Any thoughts on what would have changed??? Tom

I have been noticing an issue with file permissions and curious as to your thoughts on this. In the one directory the files started as... ...a 777 file was users[100] and root...now they are gc[1002] and fred_smith [1005], but the permissions changed to 764. I have a mask as 775, but this does not seem to be the case??? Here is my smb.conf...curious as to what I may have wrong on this???

Samba Guru's, As a point of clarification in our Samba setup... We are currently running Samba 4.3.11 on Ubuntu Server 16.04. When running smbstatus it shows the following... Windows 7 machines connect showing SMB2_10. Windows 10 machines connect showing Unknown (0x0311). Supposedly Windows 10 machines should show SMB3_11. Louis, Did not mean to confuse. Before I upgraded to Mint 19.1 I could go to the network, click on windows network, click on workgroup, then office and the windows pc (office) would mount.
