Linux, wine and lightroom
I'd love to tote a 'bells and whistles' sub-notebook though the ?800.00 plus price tag for a 10-12" screen machine which can effectively run XP or Vista and CS4 is too much considering I already own a large Tosh notebook (which I'm unwilling to haul overseas...) and two powerful desktops.
So I'm considering a cheaper, less capable sub-notebook, perhaps something around

Installing Lightroom CS3
I decided to try to install Lightroom today and with some very minor tweaks, I had success.
First, I'm running WINE 0.9.59 on Ubuntu Gutsy.
When you try to install Lightroom (v1.4.1), everything seems to go smoothly until the .msi gets called. Then you receive an error stating that you must be running Windows XP in order to install Lightroom.
To correct this, simply browse to ~/.wine/ and

Lightroom 2 - Network drive issue
Has anyone been able to find a workaround for the Adobe Lightroom 2 Network Drive issues? Lightroom doesn't like installing the main Catalog on the wine c:\ or anything else, for that matter.

Lightroom and Wine or Mac version
Hi, I'm Paolo.
I want to install Adobe Lightroom on my Kubuntu.
The installation was finished successfully, but when I wrote the licence number, after I received an error message, that say that he can't write the file; then my Lightroom installation don't work.
I read on this website, Adobe Lightroom's page, that this program works slowly on wine, but there is a note that say

Mac Clients Disconnect with: source3/smbd/service.c:1050(close_cnum) closed connection to service data
Hello,
I have an issue where Macs running a wide range of OS versions all drop
connections at seemingly random intervals, but usually after some long
period of time less than 24 hours. The Windows clients keep their
connections, however.
I can test this in PowerShell with a loop like the following:
PS C:\Users\louis> while($true) { Add-Content
Z:\_smbcheck\windwows-client.txt $DT; Start-Sleep

Macs deleting files off RHEL8 server.
I?ve got a situation with my Macs connecting to a Linux server via SMB
where files/folders are randomly getting deleted from the server. The
server logs are showing that a Mac is deleting them, but I know for a fact
that it?s not human error, as my users are very vigilant in that regard,
and the files/folders have no correlation to each other. Is there anyway of
finding out how/why my Macs are

Problem with wine and Photoshop 7.0
To start off here is my version:
drew@taz:~/downloads
[14:26:56] -> wine -v
Wine 20040505
When I run photoshop like this:
wine "C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Photoshop 7.0\\Photoshop.exe"
I get a little window form with an "OK" button that has "Adobe Photoshop

I click OK, and it quits out.
Any suggestions ?

I was using Photoshop CS5 on my Ubuntu 11.04 system fine. I did an update of wine, now it won't work. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall wine, and copied the PS install from windows, it still has errors.

Adobe Photoshop 7 Problems
I have Wine 20041019 and have done all the configuration with Wine tools.
Then I Installed Photoshop 7 by executing ~/bin/dos then going to the
cdrom drive and running the setup executable. The setup went fine and
photoshop was installed.
Then I simulated a windows reboot from wine tools.
Then i again executed ~/bin/dos and went to the place where i

Photoshop leaving toolboxes behind
Hi,
I was going to file a bug report for this, but I thought I'd check here
first, because I'm not sure if this is a wine bug, or something to do
with Photoshop or Compiz.
Most times when I close Photoshop CS2, I'm getting the one or more of
the tool pallets left behind on my desktop. I have found no way to get
rid of them - apart from restarting the X server. I tried xkill but it

photoshop cs2 runs, but seems laggy
I just got photoshop cs2 installed and running on my system using 'sh winetricks corefonts vcrun6' and while it runs and all, it seems very choppy. I've been reading about how wine 1.0 came out with the specific purpose of photoshop running on wine/linux, and that even google has been funding this endeavor, so I would think that by wine 1.1.23 it would be running quite well.

Running Photoshop on a relatively old PC
For several months I've been thinking about moving to Linux operating
system. This would resque our old machine which is getting left behind
when it comes to hardware (and it would also put fun back into
computing). The problem is that if I convert the only machine our family
has to Linux, it would mean that an important program, Photoshop, which
we use everyday has to be abandoned. This

samba and photoshop
Hello all, I have a OSX server that is serving to an XP box via samba.
When the user on the XP box tries to save a file out of photoshop, It
errors out giving a "delay write failure" error. He can save local and
then copy it to the same directory without a problem. If you open a
different paint app ( or any app for that matter) on the XP box ( ex,
paint or paint shop pro), it works fine.

Photoshop menus
Hi,
Wine 0.9.17 user here having bad headaches with Photoshop menus...
When choosing an option from the context menu or some other sorts of
drop downs, the respective areas are not clickable even they are
highlighted.
Other thing would be that when I'm opening Blending Options, set some
effects, then click OK, the tool windows is disappearing ...
Could you advise on this matter, please?

You can't just set a dll to native without installing it first. Use winetricks instead which should do all this automatically.

Adobe Photoshop CS2
Here is a quote from my friend. He uses XP most of the time because he hasn't been able to get the newest Adobe Photoshop working in Debian Sarge 3.1 with Gnome. He tried both cedega and the newest version of wine to get Photoshop working. Has anyone else got it working or know about getting it working?
