Will a VIA Epia ME6000 with a 600MHz Eden fanless CPU be suffiecient for 8 extension system?
Hello I am using a VIA Epia ME6000 with a 600MHz Eden Fanless CPU. Is this likely to be enough power for a 8 extension system with 6 external pstn lines? How important is cpu? Is there some measure, eg xMHz CPU per extension or something benchmark? I have installed 512MB memory - again any benchmark for asterisk memory usage? Angus

Pin in the Map - "tinyurl for maps" rails app
Hi there, A little while ago we launched Pin in the Map (http://pininthemap.com), a rails application which allows you to easily mark a spot on a map, attach some text to it, and get a simple link to pass around. It''s basically tinyurl for maps. It''s proved useful for organising after-work drinks, meetings, weddings plus a whole variety of other things. http://pininthemap.com.

Recommend a mini or nano ITX system for Centos
I am looking into convising the boss to get me a mini-itx system to replace my workhorse notebook (I have to have a corp notebook and I can remote terminal into a Centos server from it). So I have been playing with one mini-itx system (the decTOP) and am looking at my options. I want a fast processor, 1Gb memory, LAN, 4USB, VGA. Wireless and bluetooth optional USB dongles along with a

How to display a welcome page
Wow, I can''t believe that after a few weeks of playing around with Rails I got stuck on something that seems like it should be really simple. How do I display a default welcome page for visitors who are not logged in and send logged in users to the appropriate controller. I am using the login_engine and the user_engine. The two methods I have seen looking at sample code are to stick a

Mini-PC box to run server
On the cheap side, the ITX or even MicroATX machines work great. These are commodity items, so they tend to be far less expensive than custom solutions. Various manufacturers, but we've had very good success with any of the AOpen MicroATX boards and their slimline MicroATX case: Aluminum: http://usa.aopen.com/products/housing/A340-series.htm Steel:

Hardware compatibility IM-945GC Intel Atom Mini-ITX
Can this MB be used with Centos 4 (or 5)? For reference: http://www.logicsupply.com/products/ms_9832 I don't think we can use this new MB since the Realtek 8111C does not seem to be supported (well) http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/8111c-nic-revision-ep45-27089/ -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -

Brainstorm: Running Asterisk as cool as possible - AKA solid state.
I would like to ask what people think the best way would be to build a low-power consumption, passively-cooled system. For example, one could use a fanless-Eden (mini-ITX/EPIA) system, but the loss of FPU power would limit performance. The obvious choice for FPU work are the Intels and AMDs, nut they're all power-hungry radiators. Is there something that can offer the quiet, power-savings of

SVN+SSH
Hello Rails, I am working on a web app and trying to integrate some source control into our existing user and password base. I would like to use svnserve if possible but most importantly I would like to have svnserve or the (SVN server) use my cygwin accounts to access the files and manage my source control. Is this possible? the thing I have mostly been looking into is svn+ssh:// that

ISOLINUX fails at boot on Award BIOS v6.00PG
Hello, I don't know if it's ISOLINUX or a broken BIOS, this is the first time ever seeing this error. "Extremely broken BIOS" on a EPIA -M10 BIOS Rev 2.07 (latest ver available) EDEN VIA mini-ITX mobo. ISOLINUX on RH8 ver 1.75, RH9 ver 2.00 and Yarrow ver 2.06 all produce the same type of error. RH 7.3 and Lindows boot and build without any problem but I don't think they

Server without keyboard
I'm trying to set up a small machine as a server using a Via EPIA SP 8000E mini ITX motherboard. It's got a fanless Eden processor and I'm using a SATA hard drive. The CD drive is removed, as I only wanted it to install CentOS and don't anticipate needing it again. My problem is running this machine with CentOS without the keyboard. I've set the BIOS to ignore keyboard

SIP/Polycom Issue, Asterisk 1.2.16, calls dropped
I've been running the 8/1/2004 Head release up until a little over a week ago. I was forced to due to a card failure to upgrade to 1.2.16 without any advance preparation or testing (most of my connections are via satellite to all corners of the globe with high latency). Up until the upgrade I was running with very few issues. Since the upgrade I have been experiencing strange issues

Best Hardware for Asterisk Server?
Hey guys, In your experience what is the best way to go for a production asterisk box in your offices? With desktop prices so cheap you might think that you should just buy them off the shelf, but is that really a reliable machine? Anything you can tell me that would assist me in deciding the best way to obtain and maintain these boxes would be very helpful. I have even looked into building

Tripp Lite OMNIVS1500XL, tripplite_usb, Error reading {L, S, B} value
Hi, I'm working with svn trunk rev 815, testing tripplite_usb with this model. I haven't gotten far in my testing, but thought I'd notify the list of this error message. Is this message of any consequence, and is it worthwhile for me to continue testing prior to resolving this? I am happy to help debug any driver issues, so please let me know if I can be of assistance. My platform

Mongrel Cluster: Rolling restart?
Hi all, Forgive me if this has been asked before, but is there a reason mongrel_rails cluster::restart stops all ports and then restarts them again? Wouldn''t it be better to restart each port one-by-one in series so that upstream proxy servers can fail over while the restart is occurring, or am I missing something? Thanks, eden
