Windows 7 User can't change password
Hi list, Windows 7 Pro, joined to an NT-style domain hosted by Samba 4.5.16-Debian, installed by Apt. A user had issues authenticating with FreeRADIUS on the server, so I changed the password from terminal to a generic password, and logged her in. I then asked her to change her password by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete -> Change Password. I typed in the generic password, and told her to type in her

Windows 10 and Samba 4.1.17-debian (NT Domain)
OK, then here's the weird part. I have another server, hosting other files, lets my Windows 10 system connect. The main server won't though. They are both running Debian Jessie 8.3, and Samba 4.1.17-debian. Below is the /etc/samba/smb.conf file *that works with Windows 7 and 10*: [global] workgroup = SD57 netbios name = SAMBA server string = sss interfaces

Windows 10 and Samba 4.1.17-debian (NT Domain)
Hi all, After some config changes and reboots, I got the Samba server running properly for my client computers running Windows 7. My issue now is with Windows 10. I see threads relating to setting "max protocol = NT1", but this seems to break the Windows 7 clients (which are finally working again). Below is my smb.conf file (which works for Windows 7): [global] workgroup = JMC

BIND9_DLZ CNAME Records Not Resolving from Windows Workstations
Hello, In an effort to get MX and CNAME records working, I have migrated from Samba's internal DNS to bind9_dlz. I am now seeing strange behavior where CNAME records resolve correctly on the S4 DC, but not from workstations. Please see the case below where I have foo.internal.testdom.com aliased to google.com using a CNAME record. I do not understand why this is occurring This should work,

sshd Match Group directive problem
I try to set up two "Match Group" directives in sshd_config. I have an LDAP server. All users including admins are part of the LDAP group users. The admins users are also part of the LDAP group wheel. For example: [~]groups admin1 admin1 : users wheel [~]groups users user1 : users On a client server to LDAP, I try to configure two "Match Group" directives in sshd_config as

3rd-party tool for creating users as alternative to ADUC
Hello list, I am using the Microsoft ADUC (Active Directory Users & Computers) tool from the RSAT suite for creating and modifying my domain users. I am aware of the "copy" functionality which really is very nice to use. Unfortunately I am missing two important actions during the user-creation process which I try to describe: 1.) When I use the template feauture (by using the

ACL
Hi samba group, I'm trying to get samba to act like Windows in the Security tab (to be able to add, remove, and modify ACLs on certain files/folders). We are running Centos 5.2 (2.6.18-92.1.22.el5) with XFS installed for the /share partition. I currently have these versions of samba installed: samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1 samba-common-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1 I am pretty sure the ACL is all

Using samba-tool from Domain member
Hi list, I'm trying to work on a script that should not care what DC is up, as long as one is. I want to be able to use the samba-tool command in our Samba-AD domain from a domain member, using kerberos. I have the kinit command granting me a ticket. I want to use that ticket to remotely add users to the domain controller, while I'm on the domain member's console. For example: root

Samba 3 Beta3 using LDAP and NT4 Migrate
Hi, I am trying a test of migrating a NT4 Domain to Samba 3 Beta 3 configured to use LDAP on Redhat 8. Is this possible? Details ------- I previously had Beta 2 on LDAP running as it's own domain controller without problem and could create users (in LDAP) with smbpasswd -a. XP clients could join and login OK. Now I have flushed that setup and have loaded Beta 3 configured to use LDAP,

OK, this is working with the Windows 7 clients now. Looks like it was just a reboot. Now I have an issue with the Windows 10 clients... I'll open a new thread about that... NT4 Workstation and Win9x I have working fine - where have I gone wrong ? Linux SETUP: RedHat 7.3, samba-2.2.7-3.7.3 (upgraded from 2.2.3a) Win2k SETUP: Win 2000 Pro,

Samba / Winbind / LDAP - Can't access shares

I can access the shares on the Win2K member server from all XP clients, I can't however access any of the shares on the Samba BDC or Samba member server from the XP clients. LDAP is working fine and
