Synology NAS Samba Upgrade breaks "Classic" domain membership
I have a Synology NAS array appliance. It is linux based and uses
samba for file sharing. Normally the config is done via a gui
interface but you can ssh to the array. The domain controllers are
running Samba 3.6.x in classic domain mode. I have member servers
running 3.6.x and 4.3.8. no problem.
I recently updated the Synology "OS." The current version of samba is

Synology NAS Samba Upgrade breaks "Classic" domain membership
On both the synology (samba 4.1.20) and PDC (samba 3.6.25) testparm showed
client schannel = Auto
server schannel = Auto
I don't know if the server even supports schannel. Maybe it
doesn't any all the clients successfully negotiated not to use it. On
the synology, I set
client schannel = no
This fixed my domain membership issue. Although

LDAP authentication without Samba schema
Hi,
I am in a position where I would like to have LDAP authentication for
CIFS shares, but cannot modify the LDAP server. The LDAP server is Open
Directory and does not have the Samba schema included or configured. I
only have read only access, a keytab, and possibly a read only bind
user. Is this possible?
I have attempted to get this working in various ways. I tried enabling
plaintext auth and

wbinfo -U id gives different users on same dc
Sure there is,
Install debian, follow my howto and you will have success.
Just, your using an .local domain, and thats a reserved name for apples mDNS (zeroconf)
And should not be used. ( same for .lan )
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/FAQ#Can_I_Use_the_.local_Top-level_Domain_for_My_AD_DNS_Zone.3F
So the info is good, thats not the problem, finding it, is.
Can you post your /etc/hosts

changed my smb.conf completely.
I have read almost every parameter but i'm still not %100 sure.
Can you do me a last favor?
Please can you tell me do I have any problem with new smb.conf?

Synology NAS Samba Upgrade breaks "Classic" domain membership
Hi,
I am not sure it's the same issue, but I had a similar problem when
upgrading from DSM 5.x to 6.0 : error after domain join : "Connection
failed. Please check your network settings" .
With the help of the (very efficient) Synology support, we solved the
problem by uninstalling an old Cluster HA DSM package that was installed on
the NAS but not used.
Just in case it could help.

wbinfo -U id gives different users on same dc
Hi Louis,
Thanks for information, find it sometimes is a real challenge. Would you
please share your how to link? I wish to read it.
For the .local domain I suppose I have nothing to do. This is a running
windows Active Directory and it is not possible to change domain suffix.
Here is my /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
10.254.104.8 wdc04.aa.local wdc04

problem with parse(text=quote(name))
Calling parse(text=quote(name)) or text=as.name("name")
makes parse() prompt for input from the command line
and then it returns a parse of the initial characters
of 'name' (depending on how many characters were typed
at the prompt). E.g.,

?1/3
expression(myN)
attr(,"srcfile")
