Fractional Polynomials (mfp) for Weibull Model
Dear R-users,
I am trying to modify the mfp() function in the mfp package to model
Weibull survival using fractional polynomials approach. However, I keep
getting into trouble when mfp.fit and other "hidden" functions can't be
found. I did find some of them in Splus but it's getting nowhere. I
wonder if any of you can give me some tips on how to modify it or any
experience

Relative Risk/Hazard Ratio plots for continuous variables
Dear all,
I am using Windows and R 2.9.2 for my analyses. I have a large dataset and
I am particularly interested in looking at time to an event for a continuous
variable. I would like to produce a plot of log(relative risk) or relative
risk (also known as hazard ratio) against the continuous variable.
I have spent a long time looking for advice on how to do this but my search
has proved

Set write permission for an user into a specific LDAP field...
I need to have an AD user that need to *write* in an users LDAP field.
The user case is a MFP (a set of MFP, indeed) that have RFID auth, and
so need to 'register' the RFID cards.
Seems to me that i have to use dsacl/samba-tool acl ds, but i don't
found a way to set the property for every user.
EG, assign write permission to user 'mfp' to field 'pager' for every

Cannot scan to network share from Canon
The server is using centos-release-7-6.1810.2.el7.centos.x86_64. After
an automatic yum update on the morning of 4th December 2018 from
samba-4.7.1-9.el7_5.x86_64 to samba-4.8.3-4.el7.x86_64 we can no longer
scan from a Canon Aficio MP 301 to a network share (guest allowed).
Scanning to windows machines works fine.

Joint confidence interval for fractional polynomial terms
Dear R users,
The package 'mfp' that fits fractional polynomial terms to predictors.
Example:
data(GBSG)
f <- mfp(Surv(rfst, cens) ~ fp(age, df = 4, select = 0.05)
+ fp(prm, df = 4, select = 0.05), family = cox, data = GBSG)
print(f)
To describe the association between the original predictor, eg. age and
risk for different values of age I can plot it the polynomials

Scan to email
Anyone done this w/ Linux before? Not having ever used this functionality,
I can only speculate but I have been asked to setup an MFP such that when you
scan to email, it hits a postfix instance which rewrites the email (so it can be
typed short) and sends it on to our email-fax service. It seemed simple, so long
as I get an MFP that supports emailing from its console as all the cheap mfps's I

C-index : typical values
I am doing some coxPH model fitting and would like to have some idea
about how good the fits are. Someone suggested to use Frank Harrell's
C-index measure.
As I understand it, a C-index > 0.5 indicates a useful model. I am
probably making an error here because I am getting values less than 0.5
on real datasets. Can someone tell me where I am going wrong please ?
Here is an example using

Fwd: Response from Canon - MultiPASS (KMM7153196V60774L0KM)
My apologies for this because it is, technically, OT, but it is a classic
example of what rotten support Linux (and CentOS) get in the US from
equipment manufacturers. The whole email is a lie because they DO have the
drivers on their asia site, they just don't want us 'Murkins to get our
hands on them. Or maybe it's part of some clever little nuance of their
agreement with Micro$oft

Isolating a single plot from plots produced simultaneously
Dear R-Help,
I am using the 'mfp' package. It produces three plots (as I am using
the Cox model) simultaneously which can be viewed together using the
following code:
fit <- mfp(Surv(rem.Remtime,rem.Rcens)~fp(age)+strata(rpa),family=cox,data=nearma,select=0.05,verbose=TRUE)
par(mfrow=c(2,2))
plot(fit)
They can be viewed separately but the return key must be pressed after
each graph

HP L7780 support in hplip 1.6.7???
Alle,
I have an HP L7780 MFP, which is supported under hplip 1.7.2 but not the
current install of 1.6.7. Does anyone know of a way just to add that
particular driver to 1.6.7, or will it require removing the standard
1.6.7 and doing a custom install of 1.7.2. If the latter, what would you
consider the dangers/other implications of going "rogue"?
Best Regards,
Camron

[cfe-dev] RFC: A new ABI for virtual calls, and a change to the virtual call representation in the IR
Using relative offsets applies to more than just vtables. It would do
wonders for constant strings too.

2 attempts to install newest hplip 3.11.1
Hi Folks,
the reason: new printer HP LaserJet Pro M1132 MFP
This printer needs a non-free plugin.
On my 64-bit machine with CentOS 5.5 the installation via
hplip-3.11.1.run and hplip-3.11.1.plugin.run
works perfectly (except scanning - but that's not the problem at the moment).
On my second machine - CentOS 5 32-bit I have many problems and printing
doesn't works.
