DNS Proxy - WINS problem - please help
Here is my scenario when a client wants to resolve a name on my local network: CLIENT --> VPN --> SAMBA --> DNS The client is set up like so: DNS1 = ISP DNS1 (204.26.64.1) DNS2 = ISP DNS2 (204.26.80.3) WINS1 = my samba1 (10.10.1.5) WINS2 = my samba2 (10.10.1.8) This all _seemed_ to have worked 3 days ago for roughly 6 months but stopped suddenly without me doing anything. Heartbeat and secrets.tdb
I'm configuring a HA-cluster to share disks using heartbeat from http://www.linux-ha.org/ Two machines, lets call them server1 and server2 share the same disk with an ocfs2 file system. However, the two machines have separate disks for their OS installations. The two physical servers have two gigabit nics each and on those nics I place four virtual IP addresses which heartbeat makes sure is

Dear all For some reasons I would like to run two samba installations (/opt/samba1 and /opt/samba2) on the same host. Is such a dual installation supported? If yes, what do I have to consider? Designate one samba server for home directories
Hello all, I have a few samba servers running winbind that are joined to the AD 2003 domain. Is it possible to designate one samba server to host the users' home directories instead of each one of them? If we have samba1, samba2, and samba3 and designate samba1 to host the home directories and when a user accesses samba 2 either via ssh or as a share, the home directory that the user sees

Samba HA on two nodes
Hi All, Is anybody succeed to run a configuration on a two node clusters with Samba installed on each machine? I compiled two versions on different directories (/usr/local/samba1 and samba2). At this point, I can run 2 samba's on one node in case of failure but problems are on Active Directory authentication for the Fallback node. Any suggestion! I'm running AIX 5.2 with HACMP and

Clustered Samba Printing
Hi Folks, I'm part of a Novell department that is working on moving from Novell NDPS printing to Samba printing. I have been told that the Samba environment will have to be clustered to assure the same level of redundancy for printing. Does anyone have any pointers? Whether actual experience in this or a location of good documentation of the clustering process? Thanks for

Linux disk quota support
Dear Listmembers, I installed samba-3.0.28 and configured --with-quotas, but I don't seem to be getting quota support. Is there a description on how to do quotas with samba? Is there something I should know about besides the configuration option --with-quotas? dialup Win95 -> samba
Thanks to the four people who replied to my original posting (appended below, subject "Win95 problem"). I've made progress but have now hit a new problem. The solution to the original problem (How do you make a "standalone" client "log on to the network"?) was simply to tick the "Server Type/Log on to network" checkbox in the dialup properties.

samba3 upgrade misery
Greetings, all We've been running samba2 for far too long - I'd just never found the time to upgrade, and it wasn't a priority since it WORKED. Our little Solaris9/SPARC64 box happily served our few gigs of files to 20 users, and played the part of a PDC. Then I upgraded CUPS, and discovered samba2 doesn't like cups-1.2 libs, and figured it was as good an excuse to make the

Logon script change failure
I've got a bunch of servers which for a long time now have provided domain logon scripts of the form %u.bat or %m.bat I've recently created a more capable logon script in Kixtart and have changed smb.conf to launch it for all users as just logon.bat So no more per-machine or per-user scripts, everybody runs the same one, and inside it it does per-machine and/or per-user things.
