Unable to Join the Active Directory as a Domain Controller
Hello Garming, In the link above (sorry, it's in French), I can read how to downgrade a feature level of a 2012-R2 domain to work in 2008 R2. https://sloze.wordpress.com/2014/06/18/active-directory-diminuer-le-niveau-fonctionnel-dune-foret-etou-dun-domaine-2/ Here is the English version of the Set-ADDomainMode command: https://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/library/hh852281(v=wps.630).aspx

Unable to Join the Active Directory as a Domain Controller
Hello, I am trying to use Samba in version 4.7.0 as a replication of an Active Directory running on Windows 2012-R2. For that, I execute the process described on this page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory When I run the command to join the domain controller, samba-tool returns the following error: DsAddEntry failed with status

Migrate a share from Mac-OSX to NAS ASUSTOR samba 4.4
Hello everyone, I hope you are well. Take care of yourself. I have the same problem as describe here: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2014-December/187545.html I migrate a file share from a MAC-OS environment. For its new storage system, the company purchased an ASUSTOR NAS. This NAS works with an operating system based on version 4.14 of the GNU / LINUX x86_64 kernel. This NAS operates a

Surprising behavior with getent on AD service
Hi Rowland, I'm really happy to talk to you again (the last time was a long time ago). For production issues, I can't change these settings at the moment, but I will soon. On the file server, the command "getent passwd user2" gives me the correct information about user2. But on the AD server, the command "getent passwd user2" still gives me information about

Surprising behavior with getent on AD service
Hello, On the local network, we have installed two separate GNU/Linux servers. One runs a 4.14.14-Debian version Samba-AD DC service while the other runs a 4.14.14-Debian version Samba service for file sharing. The second is a member of the AD domain. On the second one, when I want to show all the accounts defined in AD using the "getent passwd" command, the system returns the

[LLVMdev] Scheduling quirks
Hello all! When I compile the following more or less stupid functions with clang++ -O3 -S test.cpp ===> int test_register(int x) { x ^= (x >> 2); x ^= (x >> 3); x = x ^ (x >> 4); int y = x; x >>= 5; x ^= y; // almost the same but explicit return x; } int test_scheduler(int x) { return ((x>>2) & 15) ^ ((x>>3) & 31); }

I don't think it should be the schema that is the problem, but the domain functionality level the 2012 server is operating at. We currently only operate at 2008 R2 functional level (although there are some patches currently pending to change some aspects of that). If it's running at the 2012 R2 functional level, it would have to be downgraded first (or re-promoted to only be using 2008 R2

Synology NAS is shutting down Ubuntu servers after very brief power outage (fwd)
Thanks Larry, no problem. I appreciate the input. Whenever you get a chance I’d really like to compare notes with someone who has NUT and a Synology to see why the heck mine doesn’t work! ;). I’m also using my Pi as the master like you. Thanks. Todd -- Todd Benivegna // todd at benivegna.com On Aug 14, 2020, 11:55 AM -0400, Larry Fahnoe <fahnoe at fahnoetech.com>, wrote: > On Fri, Aug

Synology NAS is shutting down Ubuntu servers after very brief power outage (fwd)
So I finally got a test in after I changed my RPi to the master and everything else (including my Synology) to slaves.  Before I did that though, I timed the shutdown of my Synology since it is the slowest slave to shutdown.  It took 40 seconds to shutdown, so I changed HOSTSYNC in upsmon.conf on the master (“Proton”) to 60.  I then did a test ("sudo upsmon -c fsd”). The slaves shutdown, then

Do they have their own UPS's?

gluster + synology
Hi, Does anyone have any experience of using Synology NAS servers as bricks in a gluster setup? The ops team at my work prefers Synology since that is what they are already using and some of the nice out-of-the-box admin features. From what I can tell Synology runs a custom linux flavor so it should be possible to compile gluster on it. Any first hand experience with it? Thanks, Ben

It looks as if Synology wanted to write their own "NUT", but decided it would be easier to put their ideas in a script when they saw they could use upssched.conf to call it. NUT intends such a script for timer management. Synology use it for general system management.

Issue with slave FSD notification on Windows port of NUT
I have the latest version of the Windows port of NUT installed on my Windows?7?machine. The UPS is connected via serial cable to the Windows machine. I also have my Synology NAS (which uses NUT) connected over the local network as a slave to the Windows NUT master. The Synology slave is configured to immediately go into "safe mode" whenever an FSD or OB+LB indication is received from the
