vfs_fruit causes delay in listing directories for Windows clients
Listing directories with many files (10000+) from a Windows client is
nociceably slower when vfs_fruit is enabled on the samba server compared
to the same setup without vfs_fruit.
On my setup it's roughly 2.5 times slower. To me it looks like this is
caused by the getxattr call which is only present with vfs_fruit
activated and introduces an additional delay of ~ 0.00033 s per listed

geo-replication command rsync returned with 3
Hi all,
i have made some tests on the latest Ubuntu 16.04.3 server image.
Upgrades were disabled...
the configuration was always the same...a distributed replicated volume
on 4 VM's with geo-replication to a dist. repl .volume on 4 VM's.
i started with 3.7.20, upgrade to 3.8.15, to 3.10.9 to 3.12.5. After
each upgrade i have tested the geo-replication which worked well anytime.
then i

It is clear that rsync is failing. Are the rsync versions on all masters
and slave nodes same?
I have seen that has caused problems sometimes.

Currently no Java for Linux-Mozilla on 4-Stable?
Hey folks,
I was trying to install a jvm for the linux-mozilla port on 4-stable.
4-stable of yesterday (updated) and all ports of yesterday except as
indicated.
I am through all of them, blackdown-1.3, blackdown-1.4.2, checked out
the previous blackdown-1.4.1, Sun-1.3.1 and Sun-1.4.2.
Most of them have incompatible C++ interfaces to the current
linux-mozilla, except blackdown-1.4.2, which

Nope. Things are more interesting than that.
I've a 4.19 installation where msdfs links works both in listing
and when specified directly. There are 2 other installations of 4.19
where msdfs links

Hi all,
by downgrade of
ii? libc6:amd64 2.23-0ubuntu10
to
ii? libc6:amd64 2.23-0ubuntu3
the problem was solved. at least in gfs testenvironment running gfs
3.13.2 and 3.7.20 and on our productive environment with 3.7.18.
possibly it helps someone...
best regards

(DeviceIoControl, FSCTL_SET_SPARSE)
Im having an issue with what I believe might be pinned down to a need for a
proper samba configuration.
The problem: sparse writes (not sure which, either write sparse files to a
system that doesn't support them, or vice versa)
The system:
Zfs-on-linux, samba share
Accessing system which is erroring:
Win7x64_ult, freefilesync

Java?
I'd be interested in helping too. I'm pretty new, but I think that JNI
would be the easiest way to go. of course, never having done anything with
JNI, what do I know :)

vfs_fruit causes delay in listing directories for Windows clients
Hai,
Can you tell the following that helps.
OS ?
Samba Version? ( pre-builded or source )
Kernel version?
I think you need to wait for 4.9.4 if all patches ive seen on vfs_fruit are getting in.
These might help. Go through bugzilla, you might find more about this here.

Java?
Are there any plans for flac for java (JNI or Otherwise?).
I am working on a java mp3 jukebox, and would like to add flac support.

Java?
I'd be happy to (help) port the source to Java. How many lines of code are
we talking?
If preferable, I could just do a front-end to a JNI interface to flac.

Hi,
?
Kotresh workaround works for me. But before I tried it, I created some strace-logs for Florian.
setup: 2 VMs?(192.168.222.120 master, 192.168.222.121 slave), both with a volume named vol with Ubuntu?16.04.3,?glusterfs 3.13.2, rsync 3.1.1 .

Hi,
As a quick workaround for geo-replication to work. Please configure the
following option.
gluster vol geo-replication <mastervol> <slavehost>::<slavevol> config
access_mount true
The above option will not do the lazy umount and as a result, all the
master and slave volume mounts
maintained by geo-replication can be accessed by others. It's also visible
in df output.

Samba 4 slow write
Dear Samba users,
here is an Ubuntu 14.04, with Samba 4 (4.1.6), and LDAP (slapd
2.4.31). The config came from a previous system (Debian Squeezy),
which had been crashed (HW error - on this new machine, I've put
Ubuntu).
So, as I wrote, the smb.conf and LDAP database was copied from
the backup from the old system - but it works as well. Only one
thing what's very annoying. The Samba is

I got the strace output now, but it very difficult to read (chdir in a
multi-threaded process ?).
