Ephimeral wins registraton of WinNTs.
Hi,
we are having a problem for registering names for Win NT servers.
Sometimes they appear in the wins.dat file, but they disappear after a time.
This causes that the server rejects user logins.
Can you tell me with wich version can I solve that?. Please tell me if you need
further information.
The version is previous to the 3.X. Do you have any information regarding
versions?
Best regards,

That was exactly what I was looking for. I hope 4.8 should not be too
far away... ;)
In the meantime I found this in the logs at level 2:

RODC and LDAP via Simple Authentication fails
Hi Andrew,
I am deeply impressed by your speed! :D
The RODC is actually Samba 4.7.4, the other DCs are still on 4.6.12.
Any suggestion how I can debug this w/o setting everything on level 10? ;)
Best regards

Roaming profiles not being loaded
I tried to build a setup to model and hence learn how to configure samba
servers for the setup that I described below.
However, a user login in which the profile is defined to be on a samba
server that is not the PDC never gets a roaming profile -- instead the user
always gets a temporary profile. Looking at the Windows logs, it is
complaining about a permissions issue. However, once logged in

writing a file back to the Samba share reporting that access is denied on
the share. But I can copy and replace the file manually without a proplem.
Running Samba 2.2.7-security-rollup-fix on Redhat 8 (upto date)
Samba Logfile for Machine account is below.
Any ideas?

Samba DC to Samba NT4 Domain Trust
Hello! I'm trying to create a two way trust between a Samba DC and a Samba
NT4 domain both are 4.10.9. The issue I'm seeing is that while I can
establish a one way trust from the NT4 PDC to the DC using the following
commands;
net rpc trustdom add sambaad thepassword
net rpc trustdom establish sambaad
I enter the password for PDC$ and the trust is established.

dtmf problem
Hello!
I have asterisk updated from CVS on 31/8/2004 with
sample configuration. I have just changed the
sip.conf to register asterisk with sip proxy in out
intranet.
Then I can successfully make call to asterisk and go
to demo IVR, but no response to dtmfs.
I try to make call from several sip phones: Cisco7960,
Ata186, Snom200. All of them send telephone-event in
INVITE, but asterisk answers

Trusting Multiple Domains NT4 and a AD Domain
Background: We are migrating from our NT4 domain, to a new Windows2003
Active Directory domain, so our Linux samba server is joined the the NT4
domain where most the users live. But we are now starting to migrate
(Using MS built in Migration tool) users from the NT4 domain to the Active
Directory. Once the users are migrated they are not able to access shares
on samba 3 file server

Samba NT4 trusting AD
Hi,
I'm currently working on getting our site migrated from a NT4 domain into an
AD domain. 2-way trusts have been established. The idea is that with SID
history users in the AD domain can access their files on the samba server in
the NT4 domain. This works for an unknown time interval. with the AD account
I can access the shares through the sid history in the NT4 domain joined

Finding users in trusting/trusted domains
We're currently migrating from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. Exchange
5.5 is in a Samba3 domain (DOM1), and Exchange 2003 is in a 2000
mixed-mode domain (DOM2), and trusts are active in both directions. Part of the
process requires that we grant users in the DOM2 domain admin rights to
the LDAP server on the Exchange server in DOM1. When we try, we're able
to browse the DOM2 userlist

Re: Trusting and Trusted Domain Samba LDAP (mapping Home Directories)Problem
Hi Igor,
Wondering have you tried to one the scenario when a domain B user logins
on domain A machine where the domain B username is not found in domain A
machine? Can you still map the drives?
Also you were asking for the smbd files.... how should I get them?
During when I login or during when I typed the commmand "net use x:
/home" on the dos prompt?
Thanks. Just concerned as
