access denied on printer driver upload
Hi, I'm trying to upload printer drivers to my jessie samba 4.1.17 print server, but I'm getting: "Failed to add driver. Access denied", and I don't understand why. The domain join is OK (verified with net ads testjoin) and on the DC I have given the SePrintOperatorPrivilege to the Domain Admins group, of which I am a member: root at DC2:~# net rpc rights list

SePrintOperatorPrivilege
Samba 3.0.24, CentOS 4.4, x86_64. One Samba-only PDC, two BDC's and several Linux member servers using ldapsam. Works very well, except for the item of this message. If I grant SePrintOperatorPrivilege to a user on the PDC and BDC's, then "rpc rights list <user>" shows the proper entry: DOMAIN\username SePrintOperatorPrivilege If I do this on a member server, I

printer drivers from windows 7 MMC?
I found a fancy, easy (seeming) way to add printer drivers in windows 7 since the old methods don't seem to work anymore. if you run mmc, you can add a snapin called print management, which enables you to manage various things (drivers, forms, ports, and printers to be most important). Problem is, I can't figure out how to use the "Drivers" method to add drivers. I get a

Samba printserver works for Win10 Pro but not Win10 Home edition
Thanks Marc, I can see your point. The Samba version we used, is 4.3.11-Ubuntu. I have not found any newer package for Ubuntu. We have found no other way to upgrade this, than to download 4.6.3, then make, make install and .configure. We have followed this guide: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Package_Dependencies_Required_to_Build_Samba#Debian_.2F_Ubuntu. Anyway, it states "Please

Samba printserver works for Win10 Pro but not Win10 Home edition
Hello, I have set up a Samba printserver at a school. The server is a standalone server, connected to no domain. I have installed printers with Cups, and uploaded Windows printerdrivers to the shared driver folder. I can add the shared printers in a Windows 10 Pro client, without any hassle. When I try the same in any Win 10 Home edition, I get Windows error messages like "error

Samba4 as AD member & local rights problem...
Hi all, have a samba4 server as AD member (security =ADS). I have no account with "Domain Admin" rights, only a normal account with delegated privilege to managing GPO and for domain join. I can not manage the printserver resp. upload the win drivers. The smb.conf option 'printer admin' is gone with v4. I asked already in irc on #samba and got the advice to "make any

Wide open (security = share) w/ printers including driver download success story
Hi- I wanted to share my experience w/ the list in getting a completely wide open file and printer (w/ automagic driver download) with security = share setup working. My requirement was to setup a server for a small office of XP boxes w/ file and printer sharing and had always done samba as domain controller w/ full logons etc. No need for any security in this setup and I wanted to have the

can't create printers after upgrading cups
After upgrading cups on my CentOS 6 systems from version 1.4.2-72.el6 to 1.4.2-77.el6, I am no longer able to create working printers, either with lpadmin from the command line or with system-config-printer. When I try to run lpadmin, I get this simple error: [root at vlsi66 ~]# lpadmin -p newprinter -v lpd://printserver/serverqueue-E -P /path/to/ppd/thing.ppd lpadmin: Unknown [root at vlsi66

Samba printserver works for Win10 Pro but not Win10 Home edition
Hi. Ok - I took a shortcut: I finally found a 4.6.5 deb package for Ubuntu: https://launchpad.net/~rewi/+archive/ubuntu/samba I know that this package is just as fresh as bread from the oven, and that the packager states "not for production". Anyway, it installs without make, make install and configure, and there is no issues with paths. Wonderful :-) I can even install a printer on

Access denied, and other problems, trying to administer printers
Hi, Today I finally got time to do some more testing. I set up a Windows 10 machine but got the same problem (just wanted to make sure...). I will do more testing tomorrow but I have a question about an error I'm seeing in the logs. Do You know what "access DENIED for non-printserver bits" (log level 3) means?
