smbclient ends in NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED error
Hi,
After a few years I wanted to migrate my Samba 4(as a PDC,version 4.2 from debian package) to a Samba4 in AD-Mode (with classic upgrade).
The PDC is running on an OpenLDAP and his own DNS Server(bind).
As I was upgrading I was following the Samba-Wiki instruction and had no error message during this.
Now I have the issue, that I’m getting error messages when I’m executing the command

Funny current debian service files use a wrong PIDFile path (should be
/var/run/amba/samba.pid).
If I use Type=forking and an wrong PIDFile systemctl start samba must be
CTRL-C'ed.
Type=notify works with or without an proper PIDFile.

a quick small howto to get samba 4.7.4 on ubuntu 16.04.
Hai,
I've had a few min left in my lunch so ...
This is a quick setup for samba 4.7.4, tested on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, should work on Ubuntu 17.10 also, .. UIuntu 17.04 is unmaintaint so upgrade to 17.10 or stay at 16.04.
Do a nUbuntu server minimal install. No dhcp ip, setup static ip.

Bind9 doesn't updated - TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hi Rowland,
I've added 'dns update command' on global section of smb.conf file and I've
configured namesever on '/etc/resolv.conf' as 127.0.0.1 (I've tried with
'kings' IP address too), but I don't know if this has worked. I've seen
some dns updates errors on 'systemctl status samba-ad-dc' though the same
command has returned status 'Active

Hi there
I have migrated from an older version of Samba DC to Samba 4.9.4 AD.
Running Centos 7. One server with everything on... (AD and file server)
Bind 9.9.4
Built from source.
Followed directions in the wiki.
All seems to go fine, but when I startup samba-ad-dc it shows a few errors.
([kdc failed to setup interfaces])
The initial tests (in the directions in wiki) go fine until I get to

Bind9 doesn't updated - TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hi Rowland,
Before to add 'dns update command = /usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate
--use-samba-tool' I've tried once to run 'samba_dnsupdate --verbose
--all-names' and it has returned me TSIG error again. More precisely, 'TSIG
error with server: tsig verify failure'

Permission issue
Hi Rowland,
The user's ID range would have been below 3600, the current max rid is 3506
The links have been setup following this link, then restarted the samba-ad-dc service
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Libnss_winbind_Links
I followed the following to configure the winbindd stuff,
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configuring_Winbindd_on_a_Samba_AD_DC

domain authentication issue after rebooting Debian Jessie - need to restart samba each time
Hai,
If not, well, very stange, i have about 7 Jessie's here with samba and
i dont have any problems.
I think systemd is blocking your startup of samba due to multple errors on startups previously.
Few questions?
Do you have samba with shares over nfs?
If so, create te following folder :
/etc/systemd/system/nfs-common.service.d/
Add the following file with content to the file :

2nd samba DC: NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS
I added a 2nd DC (ADC2) to a samba-ADS today.

We wanted to test services after turning off the first DC, and running
ADC2 and a DM file-server only.
DC1/backup: 10.0.0.224
ADC2: 10.0.0.230
We then get NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS
