error connecting to Samba4 AD from the Windows DNS client
I provisioned a server with Samba4.3 from repo ubuntu16.04. I tested some things, but I can NOT connect to my Samba DC from the Windows DNS client. ADUC, AD Sites and services, and AD Domain & Trusts, connects Ok. But DNS [" Acces is Denied "] does not connect to the Samba4 DC. Any idea? What happens? _________________________________________ Ing. Felipe_ González_Santiago

xen-unstable: TX/RX ring buffer exhaustion and NR_GRANT_FRAMES
Hi, it seems as if it is not possible to have more than 3 nics per domU right now. If I specify more, I get the usual [...] xen_net: Initialising virtual ethernet driver. #### netfront can''t alloc rx grant refs vif: probe of vif-3 failed with error -12 [...] message - see bug #183. It was pointed out to me that it might be possible to adjust this manually in

cpufreq problems with hvm
Hi all, I was wondering if cpu frequency scaling in dom0 (using the cpufreq=dom0-kernel boot parameter) may cause problems with HVM domUs? This is on Xen 3.2.1. PV domUs seem to work just fine. They adjust to the frequency change on the go. The HVM I run using the unmodified_driver drivers (also from the 3.2.1 release) seem to have very slow timers if dom0 lowers the frequency. Birger

Numlock
We have encountered an anomaly that appears to be related somehow to Samba. When users are moved to the new domain hosted by Samba4.3 then the numlock on their keyboards is always turned off when they log onto the domain regardless of its previous setting. This in itself is just a nuisance. However we have an application called SnetTerm, an ssh client, which will not recognise the numlock at

kernel oops/IRQ exception when networking between many domUs
Hi, I try to build experimental networks with Xen and stumbled over the same problem that has been described quite well by Mark Doll in his posting "xen_net: Failed to connect all virtual interfaces: err=-100" here: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2005-04/msg00447.html As it was still present in 2.0.6, I tried 3.0-devel and found NR_PIRQS and NR_DYNIRQS had been

feature request & patch submit: chroot(2) in sshd
Hello, whereas most people take passwd/shadow/ldap/<whatever> as the place where decision on a chrooted environment / sandbox for certain users is met (just set the given usershell appropriateley), I needed a somewhat different approach. Below is a tiny patch to 2.2.0p1 which enhances the sshd-config by two options and, when set, places all users / users of a certain group immediately in

Mapping home directory share names to AD user names?
Resending this as I sent it using wrong sender and it never appeared on the list... I finally have a samba server running with security=ads and user name mapping using smbusers file. Now, to make this perfect I would like to have home directory shares show up using the users AD names instead of the unix names. Is this possible? -- birger

Problems with rsync 2.5.1pre1 and hardlinks
Hi, I got stuck within some weird prob concerning my 2-node linux cluster and the synchronisation tool at hand (rsync-2.5.1pre1). I have to copy a structure of 70 directories where the data of these directories are hardlinked to the data of the 1st directory. Within this "orig data" directory, I have about 30.000 files, so the amount of files to sync is approx. 2.100.000. The

Active directory and multiple forests
Well I'm hoping someone here can give me some assistance. Where I work we manage multiple AD forests. We are looking for a way to centrally manage this. Right now each forest has its own logins for our support people here. I hoping there's a way to make samba make this a bit easier. I know samba will do domain trusts, but is there a way to have it have do trusts to each seperate forest.

Two-way forest trust with selective authentication and SAMBA 3.6 as member
Hello Everybody, we have authentication problems with the mentioned configuration. Current situation: We have two Windows 2008 R2 domains (currently on 2003 level) in separate forests. Recently we created a two-way trust with selective authentication between them. A Debian Squeeze LTS machine running SAMBA 3.6.6 (latest Backports version) is member of our primary domain and provides file

Fileserver for Two AD Forests with No Trust Relationship
Hi, I have the following situation: I'm designing a solution for an organization with two Active Directory forests. The forests do not have a trust relationship, and there is no chance to get them to move to a trust relationship (at least within a reasonable timescale). I need to set up a fileserver than both sets of users can access, with Windows authentication. I could host this on a UNIX

Trust problems after upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6
Hello. My setup: _ one Samba 3.5 domain (XXXXXXXX), with a PDC and a BDC, both running FreeBSD; _ one AD domain (YYYYYYYY) running on two Windows 2003 DCs; _ bidirectional trust between the two domains. Everything used to work until I moved the PDC from Samba 3.5 (EOL'ed) to 3.6; now, users from domain YYYYYYYY cannot access the PDC's shares. I used to have in smb.conf: >

OT: suggestion need on Sync in the windows way.
I agree, If the synology uid and gid is working right than nfs would be great. it would be easy... However, it seem that they have something else running under samba/nfs to control the permission on the files/folder... I would like to use bidir sync because I like some of the synology feature on remote sync and etc which is making remote access much easier compare to samba... But these sync
