New attributes in Samba AD
Hello James, About the warning, I only accept it and try to create a new attribute/class. However, when I put all the parameters (name, OID, syntax...), the system accuses that the server is unable to proceed. Do you know if Samba's schema is closed, that cannot be modified? New attributes in Samba AD
Hello Jonathan, So, I realized later that I didn't have add 'dsdb:schema update allowed'. I just added and it worked! But now I'm having problem related to the the class. This is the error: ldap_add: Object class violation (65) additional info: 00002014: objectclass: the objectclass 'classtest' seems to be unrelated to user! Hi Lukz, On 1 November 2016 at

Rowland, I looked at Samba wiki, but it doesn't helped me as I wanted, maybe I'm doing something wrong. This is what I tried to do: yum install pam* ./configure.developer --with-pam make && make install ln -s /usr/local/samba/lib/libnss_winbind.so.2 /lib64/libnss_winbind.so ln -s /lib64/libnss_winbind.so /lib64/libnss_winbind.so.2 modified my nsswitch.conf passwd:

LDAP problem
Hello everyone, I'm using Samba4 in my CentOS server, and it was just fine. I could always use ldap commands like 'ldapsearch' and 'ldapadd' and I had no problem. But one day, I don't know why, I couldn't use more ldapsearch or ldapadd. They return this: ldap_sasl_bind(SIMPLE): Can't contact LDAP server (-1) I'm using the same command as always, like:

Hello Marc, Thanks for your documentation. Well I followed what you wrote, perhaps my wbinfo command fails when I try to test the connectivity. # wbinfo --ping-dc checking the NETLOGON dc connection failed failed to call wbcPingDc: WBC_ERR_WINBIND_NOT_AVAILABLE Could not ping our DC My smb.conf is now this: # Global parameters [global] netbios name = DEVLUCAS1 realm =

LDAP problem
Hello Brian, Sorry to my late answer, I did what you suggest previously This error suggests a problem with your certificate. If it used to work previously, then check it hasn't expired. openssl s_client -connect devsamba.lucas.ufes.br:636 copy-paste the certificate into a pem file, including begin/end lines openssl x509 -in mycert.pem -noout -enddate And check your root CA

LDAP problem
Hello Rowland, You shouldn't use 'ldaps' and ':636', in fact you shouldn't use ':636' at all. OK, mini-howto coming up ;-) The DC is dc1.samdom.example.com The AD domain DN is dc=samdom,dc=example,dc=com There is this line in the DC smb.conf: tls certfile = tls/cert.pem The reverse dns zone has been created and operational The client is

Hy Guys, I am trying to migrate to samba 4 and I need some help. So, I have a samba running with samba 3 and LDAP. Problems after upgrade from Samba3/OpenLDAP to Samba4 - New Useraccounts aren't properly working
Hello! We've got some problems after an Upgrade from OpenLDAP and Samba3 to Samba4 AD (4.5.12 on Debian 9). After a successfull upgrade. we can't create no new properly working User-accounts with the RSAT-mmc (Windows 2k8, which is connected to the DC). The account can be created in RSAT and can even login on a Windows 7 Client - which is fine - but the account doe not got any access on

Samba4 + Winbind
Your smb.conf is for a Domain Controller. Winbind is meant to run on member servers. You are setting up a domain controller or you are joining this samba to an existing domain? Trouble Connecting Windows 8.1 RSAT to Samba Domain
Marc, Sounds like a great presentation and I wish I could attend. The steps are: 1. Downloaded and installed the RSAT for Windows 8.1 X64. 2. Log into Windows 8.1 client with Domain Administrator account. 3. Execute Server Manager. 4. From Server Manager Dashboard, I choose "Manage" from the top menu, and then Add Servers. 5. The Add Servers screen shows up with the Active

RSAT Hang
So, I setup Samba on Ubuntu 18.04, using the packaged Samba version. [Thanks Rowland/Louis et al.] I'm doing some testing/tinkering using FreeNAS as a share, using the AD as the authentication back-end. As part of that process, you need to add a computer account and change some security settings. I setup RSAT and can see the AD tree, and add users etc. When I try to switch to advanced view
