high load printing with 3.2.15
Hi,
I am still struggling with the printing in a AD2008 R2 environment I
changed to 3.2.15 by now. Still very slow, I am running on solaris 10. Not
sure if my clients are so chatty by now but it is really killing any
performance. Using truss I see loads of:

19702: fcntl(17, F_SETLKW64, 0xFFBFE150) = 0

smb.conf template homedir
For local login to our samba server, we are using posix information
stored in an openldap directory. - I can log in via shell with no problems.
We are authenticating samba against AD2003. I can attach to the samba
server from both windows and macintosh - just not access my home directory.
Currently, "template homedir = /home/%U" - which results in a path of
/home/<username>

wbinfo -a works but wbinfo -i doesn't
We're in the process of upgrading from 3.2.14 to 3.5.4 on RHEL5.2 in an effort to eliminate frequent complete system pauses when winbindd pulls info from the AD2003 servers. The 3.2.14 packages were removed, 3.5.4 installed, and the previous smb.conf file reinstated.
wbinfo -i works, as do -g -u -t -a -K and -m.
However wbinfo -i doesn't. It returns "Could not get info for user"

My Documents Folder Redirection to Samba Share
Does anyone know how to setup the smb.conf file for the my document
folder redirection in windows. If I point it to a root share, with a
Microsoft file server, it will automatically create a folder for each
user with a my documents folder under that. How can I get that to
happen with a samba share. Using Debian Etch and Samba 3.0.24 and
fairly new to samba. The default smb.conf makes mention

My dovecot works fine against Active Directory 2003, but not against AD2008
Fran - thanks for your reply. I'm cc'ing you directly on this as well as posting
to the list as I'm not sure how often you check the list and I'm down to hanging
by my last fingernail on this project.
I have some preliminary questions interspersed below.
Thanks, --Mark

FW: opiekey segfault ... isn't that harmfull? it's setuid root
Hi,
I dunno much about exploiting, but I was wondering about the setuid root
program 'opiepasswd' to use one-time-passwords.
When having a seed of (null) and a sequence of -1, I get a segfault.

Migrating domain from Samba 3 to Windows 2003
At the risk of being called a turncoat and traitor in Sambaland, I ask,
"how do I migrate from a Samba 3 domain to a Windows 2003 Active
Directory domain?"
A customer has determined that they wish to use the groupware features
of Microsoft Exchange. They already have the licenses they need, so
there's no point in convincing them that Samba will be cheaper or that

Troubles with moving from Samba to windows DC
Hello,
I am in the process of moving from a Samba DC to a windows server DC. I
have promoted a Server 2008R2 and used the robocopy workaround to
populate SYSVOL, then - after a few days - demoted the samba DC. So the
windows DC is currently the only one in the domain, I want to promote
another Server 2016 instance.
I am facing similar problems like described here:

Samba problem
Dear Samba,
I have installed Samba 3.022 version on my FreeBSD 6.1 Release version.
Samba installation purpose is to integrate squid authentication
process with AD2003 system. Everything works fine, by mean users
authenticates and get acces to internet. But if I wanna to implement
group access level for users I get trouble with winbindd, so it does
not want to work. The trouble is in invalid

strange Samba3 / sudo / ldapsearch problem
Hi,
I recently triied to set up a special PDF creation service for a customer. The
Samba3 server is a AD2003 member server. Since the created PDF files
need to be sent via e-mail to the creators, I need to issue an LDAP
query against the AD, like
ldapsearch -h 10.243.50.22 -Y GSSAPI -b "ou=user,ou=... ..." \
-LLL '(cn=lastname firstname*)' mail
As long as I run this command

Registry backend changes with CTDB not noticed by other nodes?
Hi!
I'm working on a 2-node ctdb-clustered Samba. I'm almost there (hope so),
but Samba doesn't seem to notice the modified registry that is distributed
with ctdb.
On a single node the registry is working. CTDB picks up changes, including
the registry, and they are synced to the other node (verified with net conf
addshare/delshare and tdbdump on /var/ctdb/persistent/registry*).

ad2003 schema while forest/domain at 2008R2 level
Hi everyone,
I came across this issue today while upgrading a samba4 AD. The
forest/domain level is 2008R2, however the schema partition is actually
missing the msDS-isRODC attribute (and probably a few others). It makes
the ADUC console to failed on that entry below. Here is the samba log
message (which is quite explicit :-)

Active Directory LDAP authentication fails after a time
Hi -
I've got Dovecot version 1.0.7 running on a CentOS 5.2 machine. It's
serving pop, imap and imaps and authenticating against an Active Directory
machine. This all works fine at first, but after about two weeks or so,
dovecot's authentication against AD starts to fail. All of dovecot's
authentication attempts time out. I also have postfix on the same machine
authenticating

My dovecot works fine against Active Directory 2003, but not against AD2008
Fran and/or Matthias,
Could you publish your doveconf -n? I can't get dovecot to authenticate with my
AD. Maybe you have a solution I could try.
What mail client(s) are you using? I assume by "AD 2003/8" You mean SBS2003/8
and are therefore using Outlook?

Dovecot hanging up with many defunct processes
Hi,
I am in a very awkward situation and need some kind of immediate fix up.
I had installed dovecot in my organization as part of migration of email
server. The setup involves sendmail, dovecot (imaps+pop3s) and webmail
(squirrelmail) running on apache webserver. All was working fine until one
day I found a lot of defunct processes on system related to dovecot.

My dovecot works fine against Active Directory 2003, but not against AD2008
Hi Fran,
this is not a dovecot problem, thats a pure dns problem and can only
be fixed in your dns environment.
referrals are propagated in a "special" dns design in SRV records.
so the ldap client performs a dns lookup for this names and this is the
point of hanging (as in most "hanging cases", its dns).

How to print the log in socket_wrapper.c
Hi folks
I want to print the log in socket_wrapper.c to have a better view of the read or write socket behavior.
I find that there are four debug levels:
SWRAP_LOG_ERROR
SWRAP_LOG_WARN
SWRAP_LOG_DEBUG
SWRAP_LOG_TRACE
So:
Where and How to set those debug levels?
Where can I find the log?
Or:
Are there any other ways to print the log?(I
