Upgrading samba from source over debian packages
Hello Marc,
Thanks for the fast answer!!!
Don't forget to uninstall the packages before running 'make install'.

Maybe, it would be nice to put on the wiki that step regarding uninstall
the old packages version. I believe that a good portion of users unaware
that step. :)

OpenLDAP proxy to samba4 AD
I greatly appreciate the answers. Are of great value to me and to others
who like me do not have much experience.
Another question. :D
I believe that we will use debian as distribution for the new Samba4. What
I need to copy from the old to the new distro?

OpenLDAP proxy to samba4 AD
Hello Marc,
I appreciate your response, as well as the other members. Reading your
answer, I believe I found what I wanted. Option 3, the principle is what I
need right now. I'll try to explain.
Today in production, we have the samba3 + openldap. The samba3 is installed
on a freebsd, but has some problems that we can not detect. My boss does
not want to drop the openldap now. We have

OpenLDAP proxy to samba4 AD
Rowland,
The *openldap* will be the same that is already working on our campus
(technological courses).
I have samba3 on a freebsd, but the samba4 I will switch to Debian.
I believe that in addition to the *smb.conf*, I have to also copy the
following folders:
*/etc/samba/*
*/var/lib/samba/*
Proceeds?

We already have a Openldap in production, with a samba3. What I am wanting
to do is install the Samba4, and still continue to use the "openldap" for
authentication of users in various services that are operating.
You think it's possible?

interference of the nmbd service with the dhcp of the debian server??

No.
Does this happen on the XEN Server of Client (guest OS).
If Xen, which xen version?
xen 7.0.0
The command cat lan-dev-$(ip route | grep default |awk '{ print $5
}').network shows nothing. Do I need to create this file? His content is
just my interface. Ex: eth0?

interference of the nmbd service with the dhcp of the debian server??
Hello guys,
I have a fileserver configured on a debian 9.9 using Louis APT. This is not
always the case, but sometimes the server changes IP, and the configuration
in /etc/network/interfaces is static. I already disabled services that
could potentially change the IP.
- The server is an xenserver VM;
- The "vlan" that the server is part of does not have DHCP enabled;
- In xenserver

Deploy software in fileserver folder
Hey Luke, thanks for the help!!! It's working now!!!
God bless you and your family!! :D
Remember that GPOs need to run as the context of either the computer or the

Debian Buster Samba 4.13 online (amd64/i386/armhf )
Hai,
?
Debian Buster Samba 4.13 is now online on my repo.
Info : https://apt.van-belle.nl/
With the release of 4.13 the following changes are going to happen in the repo's.
Current (recently sended?list)
OS-sambaXXXX with EOL wont be supported anymore, upgrade your OS and/or Samba versions!
EOL repo's will stay online for about 6 months, that gives sufficient time to upgrade.

Deploy software in fileserver folder
Hello list,
I tried to set up a folder on our fileserver domain member, so I can deploy
software for users' machines, but is not working.
If I put the software inside "netlogon" it installs correctly.
