Newer SMBTREE versions don't find all systems.
Hi,
Trying the latest version again tonight 4.6.7 it has the same problem
I've seen with the prior newer versions as well. The one I went back
to was 4.4.15 which works. What is happening right now is there is a
Win2K3 box that is the domain server, with thecompanydomain.com
(NetBIOS domain name: COMPANY). That has the __MSBROWSE__ on it. I
have a Linux Wheezy system on that is part of

smbtree command shows nothing with SMB2/3
Hi,
I am using samba 4.5.4 in my fedora machine.
when I execute "smbtree" command it shows nothing with SMB2 protocol.
If I change my client max protocol=NT1 in smb.conf, I can see all server
present in my Network.
looks like below bug.
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12431
Can it be fixed or someother options can be used for the same to work with
protocol greater than NT1

Concerns about failed tests in build from git source on Debian Gnu/Linux
Greetings. I am newly engaged in using samba in a heterogenous LAN
environment (Windows 10 & Gnu/Linux systems, all Linux boxes are
32-bit). After seeing failures in the samba suite provided for my
distribution (Debian "Buster" 10.13) I decided to build and install
samba from the upstream source at the git repository, cloned it on
April 29. I had completely removed the samba files

Workgroup Domain
Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help with a weird issue I'm having -
Just set up a new server (RHEL 7.4) and have migrated my samba
configuration from my old server (Fedora 25), I'm experiencing an issue
where by if my the name of my workgroup a domain i.e. it has a period in
it, then none of my Linux clients can detect the broadcast and smbtree on
both client and server is completely empty.

My report is specifically/solely about the addition/use of the
Options = ServerPreference
parameter.
I don't see that in your configuration.
Are you using it? In a config using Dovecot's submission proxy?

Kodi is a GUI app. There is no "shell" or "exit to shell" feature. It calls library
functions and does not call the "smbclient"

samba - bind : program guideline suggestion
Hi all !
I'm currently developping a program that takes the smbtree output, parse it,
retrieve all connected workstations, then call nmblookup for each
workstation, resolve the IP, create a BIND zone file with this.
At this point, the programs works; I use system( " ") calls and unsafe
temporairy files. I just wanted to get it up quickly
Now; to secure this programs; I tought

Previous versions of samba or how to disable NTML2 authentication
If I run apt-get install samba, this only seems to retrieve the latest version
of samba.
How do I retrieve an earlier version of samba?
Alternatively, how do I disable NTMLv2 on my Linux PC?
The settings in the link below work for Windows 7 and I can access my
Terastation again from Windows 7, but how do I do this on a Linux PC
(Ubuntu 14.04)?

smbd starts but terminates with - failed to receive smb request
Hello,
I start smbd interactively from the command line and then attempt to issue an smbtree command from another terminal and smbd immediately terminates.
Here is the output. It looks like the initial authentication is working, but the termination happens after "string_to_sid: SID root is not in a valid format"
Any idea what might be going on here?
Thanks
