Firmware update via USB to Sony NEX camera
Hello.
I would like to update my newly acquired Sony NEX camera's firmware. The supplied firmware is packaged in a .exe that's listed on Sony's site as compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7. I ran the .exe under WINE, which was set to XP. The program executes and opens its dialog. The first thing it does is try to find the camera, connected via USB, and determine the

online updates
Hi. I'm looking for ideas or suggestions for field updates for an embedded system running linux with syslinux as the bootloader. The requirements are to be able to upload an image online (probably a private network using sftp) while the device is running, do some error checking on the new image and then reboot the device and run the new version. I'll be running off a CF card. The image is

Antialiasing plots and text on different devices
I have a question about antialiasing when R generates bitmaps. (This follows
a thread on the ggplot2 mailing list.)
I mostly use R on Linux, although I sometimes use it in Mac and Windows as
well. On Linux, I've found that plotting shapes 15-18 via cairo results in
bad-looking output. The points are not antialiased, and they are jagged and
misshapen. Plots generated in Windows also aren't

PXElinux Modification Question
Hi,
We are new to PXElinux and we are using it in our test lab
to do provisioning. When the systems come up there is a
PXElinux menu to boot local(default) or boot to the imaging
environment (linux). It works great, but we have to visit
each machine whenever we want to create or restore a disk
image.
Now we would like to be able to remotely force a system to
re-image itself. The

Alternating boot default entry every reboot
Hi,
I am currently using isolinux (syslinux-6.03) in a clonezilla setup. It
boots fine, however I want to have a setup where the default boot selection
alternates every boot.
* First boot : Default is menu item 0
* Second boot : Default is menu item 1
* Third boot : Default is menu item 0
...
The idea is that when it is booted into clonezilla the clonezilla script
checks if the system needs to

[Fwd: Centos 7.6 and Aeskulap]
Everyone,
Apparently, aeskulap is broken during the upgrade fro 7.5 to 7.6, and
is no longer available in the epel repos.
I had some difficulty having it function, and during the debug process
I decided to do a yum remove, but when I tried a yum install to
reinstall it, aeskulap was no longer present. This problem may also affect
other modules.
I have placed a bug report :

Samba 3.5.9 with Windows 2008 R2
Hi All,
We're going to upgrade our DCs to Windows 2008 R2 native mode soon, so we're facing with the challenge that how to get our samba servers (Solaris 8 & Solaris 10) work with Windows 2008 R2 native mode. I've compiled Samba 3.5.9 with AD support. Then I installed and configured the binaries on my 3 test machines (one Solaris 8 and two Solaris 10). The strange problem is one

any way to use binary kernel modules + pxe booting?
So, I'm trying to boot using PXE + NFS root filesystem, to boot a kernel
that can reimage machines. This has been quite successful for me, until
just recently where I ran into a motherboard that had a broadcom
ethernet chipset - the broadcom driver is binary only. I can boot a
kernel using PXE and load the broadcom driver using a custom initrd, but
don't know how to then NFS mount the root

Attempting to checksum a non-TCP/UDP packet, dropping a protocol 1 packet
Pasi,
in http://readlist.com/lists/lists.xensource.com/xen-users/10/50495.html
you mention a netback fix without identifying which one. In going
over the changes as well as looking at the code, I can''t spot
anything related, or see how non-TCP, non-UDP packets could
pass checksum_setup(), and hence I don''t really understand how
this problem can be considered fixed (for, in the

Moving hard drives
Hi All,
I have a server that is running nicely, except I have hit the maximum RAM (4gb) and I wish to add more.
It is an ASUS board, AMD X64 dual core, nvidia nic.
What I want going to move to is a dell board, Intel Pentium M dual code, which supports 8gb of RAM.
Can I just unplug the HD and move it to the new server and boot it up?
I assume that the NIC will need to be re-setup, but what

Difficulty in caper: Error in phy$node.label[which(newNb > 0) - Ntip]
Hello,
I'm doing a comparative analysis of mammal brain and body size data.
I'm following Charlie Nunn and Natalie Cooper's instructions for
"Running PGLS in R using caper".
I run into the following error when I create my comparative dataset,
combining my phylogenetic tree (mammaltree) and taxon measures
(mammaldata):

bareos on CentOS 6
Hi, folks,
I'm hoping *someone* here has worked a bit with bareos. I've tried
posting to the google groups for it... and haven't even had one person
view my post....
It was working fine, backing up windows boxes for months. Then, about a
week ago, the server got a regular yum update, and rebooted... and it's
broken. A job will start... and just keep running forever (as in,
