strange difference in ldbtools between samba-4.9.2 (van-Belle build) and compile samba tag 4.9.2
Hi list,
If I compile samba-4.9.2 tag from git, i get
# ldbsearch --version
Version 4.9.2
taking the same from the van-Belle build i get
$ ldbsearch --version
Invalid option --version: unknown option
[..]
But looking with dpkg I get:
$ dpkg-query -l ldb-tools

[solved] Re: strange difference in ldbtools between samba-4.9.2 (van-Belle build) and compile samba tag 4.9.2
For more information:
the package /libtracker/-/sparql is in ubuntu bionic 2.0, but in the
van-belle repo expects 1.0./

Howto set/reset/reaad computer account password with samba-4.9.x examples?
Hi list,
I want to perform a domain join of a computer to a given machine account
with reusing it, not overwriting. For this I think, it is the right way
(for a unattend.xml) to use the <machinePassword> described here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/customize/desktop/unattend/microsoft-windows-unattendedjoin-identification#child-elements
in the new feature list of samba

Howto enable ldapi socket?
Hi list,
Im playing around with ldbsearch/ldapsearch and using successful the socket
/var/lib/samba/private/ldapi
in my git-compiled samba.
Now I installed the version 4.9.2 for ubuntu bionic from the van-Belle
repository and didnt find this socket anymore. Do I have simple to
create this socket with mknod? How can I determine the path? Is there a
smb.conf-Option to enable it?

Im using Samba 4.x (x >=8) and Im excited about the new "samba-tool

Now I would like to use some more information tags in the computer
section, i.e. partition information or macadress of the nic.
So I tried to enhance the schema (using 4.10.0pre1-GIT-8c00c017cb5) i.e.
simple with
