It seems to have bug for @group to set in valid or invalid conf
Hi all, I am using samba 4.10.7 and it seems to have bug for using @group in valid or invalid conf (?). And i can't find fixed patch in later release. I describe this issue detail below: 1. Firstly, there is my samba conf below (Add @d_group in "invalid users"): (smb_share.conf) [f1] path = /home/f1 write list = "admin" "@Administrator_Group"

Can't write to a samba share mounted as an AD user
If I’m not confused though, I believe pisymbol CAN get a mount. It’s just that the mount has read-only access despite the file ownership and modes being set to give full read-write? -E > On Aug 2, 2018, at 8:56 AM, Rowland Penny via samba <samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > > On Thu, 2 Aug 2018 11:17:47 -0400 > pisymbol <pisymbol at gmail.com <mailto:pisymbol at

streams_xattr & streams_depot
A couple of questions about the above: 1. In their respective man pages, both refer to "NTFS alternate data streams?, however they are not limited to just NTFS ADS are they? Other file systems may also use ADS (such as Mac OS?s various fs) 2. What is the essential differences and similarities between the two? From the man pages it appears that: - xattr has default prefix (which can be

Eventlog not viewable from Windows in domain member config
I've configured a domain member server using version 4.4.7 on FreeBSD. I'm able to manage groups and shares from the Computer Management tool on a Windows 2008 server, but when I connect to the samba member server the following error occurs: Event Viewer cannot connect to computer 'XXXXXX'. The error reported is : The RPC server is unavailable. Clicking OK allows me to proceed.

Can't write to a samba share mounted as an AD user
Are the default ACLs set on the share in question? 'getfacl .’ In the root of the share. Sounds like files are being created by a user with the proper permissions but then are being assigned permissions as part of the creation process that denies write access. Also, I don’t know what qnap_macea does exactly… the ‘ea’ strikes me as obviously handling extended attributes. I’m used to stacking

What could cause the streams depot to become confused?
I'm using a program on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 that requires NTFS alternate data streams. It's talking to a Samba 3.6.0 SMB2 share configured with streams_depot. The program has been running for over a month with no obvious problems, except that the filesystem has been accumulating "lost" directories. Apparently, at some point after the whole server crashed (both are VMs

with streams_xattr enabled, ads are written correctly but not retrieved
Hello, I'm running Samba 3.6.6-1 on my x64 Arch Linux installation. I recently decided to have my samba share support NTFS's Alternate Data Streams by using streams_xattr or streams_depot. With streams_xattr I discovered that if I copy a file having an ADS from a win7 box, on the linux console, I can see the ADS as an xattr attached to the file. However when I copy the file back to my

AD Groups Failing to Authorize in Valid Users (does not start with S-)
For the last 3 weeks I've been working on getting RHEL4 (and 5, but that's a different story) to play well with Active Directory, OpenLDAP, Kerberos, PAM and NSS. It's been a long struggle but I now have a process to authenticate and authorize a RHEL4 client to a windows Active Directory server to that my AD Users can log into my Linux boxes (assuming their group permissions are set

Rebuilding samba3x rpms results in size doubled
Hi, I have rebuilt samba3x SRPM in Centos 5.5. The resultings RPM's are nearly in triple size of the original RPMs. I have installed and checked the binary files are stripped. What can result in such difference in RPM sizes? I have not changed anything on built and install sections of spec file.
