openSUSE / Samba 4 / Mac Client / Missing Folders & Files
Hi, all. I am running a server in my house that has been operating for years. It is currently at openSUSE 13.1, fully patched as of yesterday. Samba 4.1.22 is installed and working fine for Windows clients. Generally, my MacBook (El Capitan - 10.11.12) is able to access the server as I need it to. Recently, I attempted to access my music repository to copy it off of the server and onto my Mac so

net domain join fails - classic DC
I've got a rather old setup for several computers and VM's here at home. It is fairly static--the other day I was decided to remove and then re-add one of my Linux servers to the domain. My setups it the old smbldap and openldap setup. Centos 7 recently updated to 4.6.2. When I tried to join a Linux machine named 'backup' I got an error: Failed to join domain: Failed to set

Latest debian (testing) version crashed strangely
Hi there, First post to this list - apologies if there's a more appropriate place for discussion of debian specific builds, but this looks like a generic-enough bug. Samba "smbd version 3.0.0beta2-1 for Debian" running on 2.4.21 linux kernel on Athlon machine. WinXpPro client machine opening a mapped drive from samba share in a "Add attachment" dialog in Mozilla 1.4.

Minor probs after upgrade to 3.0.0beta2
Firstly, I am running beta2 as AD member. Auth through Winbind. Upgrading from beta1 to beta2 using RPM on RH 9 I noticed that Winbind will not start and smb will not stop using Init scripts. Seems to me RH9 /etc/init.d/winbind need the "winbind uid" parameter ? Here is the /var/log/samba/log.winbind output. [2003/07/04 13:54:52, 1] nsswitch/winbindd.c:main(811) winbindd version

Incorrect User/Password
I'm trying to connect to my homes folder. I can see it when I browse in windows 2000. However, when I click on the folder I get a logon window. When I enter the username and password, it says it's invalid. The smb.conf file was taken from a simular working box. I'm using Ver 3.0-alpha17 on FreeBSD 4.6. I'm logging into the window2k box with the same username/password as on

smbpasswd port 139
I have a network where the domain controllers do not connect on port 139 Is there a way to have smbpasswd change the password without this? I am able to change the password using an ldap method in php ldap_connect ldap_bind ldap_modify_batch full source code here http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=313554 however this does not allow the password to be set if it has expired.

UTF-8 stuff
Here's a propsed heavy-duty solution for your UTF-8 problems. I'm including a patch in this message, but I'll put the new files on my web site at http://rano.org/tmp/xiph_files.tar.gz I've tested this by running vorbiscomment with and without -DHAVE_ICONV=1 in vorbis-tools/share/Makefile. It seems to work. Changed files: acinclude.m4: Add a test for nl_langinfo(CODESET). This
