samba 4.1.17 on raspberry pi as ad dc - internal dns problems
Hey Peter, many thanks for your reply. --- regarding .local domains I know this is regarded by some as bad form, is actively being discouraged by the samba wiki and can cause problems with bonjour/zerobla configuration. I can say for certain that no apple devices will ever come anywhere near that network and the other drawbacks of .local like getting signed certs... should never be an issue

Forward Samba DC DNS to Bind
I have a running Bind9 infrastructure and intend to have Samba its specialities, but leave the bulk to Bind. My idea is to configure a slave zone with Samba as master in my top level Bind. However, this would need Samba to allow-forward. Is there any way to configure the internal DNS like that? Or do I have to run a Bind instance on the samba machine for that purpose? Thanks for your help, -

Can't get 'root preexec' to run
MJ, thanks a lot! Just to make sure I get you right: This section is in the smb.conf. a) on the DC acting as file sever as well, or b) on a separate file server running Samba 4.1.17? The user log-on happens on a third machine, that is neither DC nor that file server, right? How and where is the home dir for each user specified? On the DC? In the smb.conf or via the ADUC console in the user

Problems after migration from samba 3.5.2 to samba 4.3.1
Hello, 3 months ago, I migrated my domain from samba 3.5.2 (NT4 with LDAP) to samba 4.3.1 (compiled from source) following classic upgrade instructions on wiki page. The samba 4.3.1 is using Samba Internal DNS. 20.000 users and 2.800 computers were migrated. After the migration process, I joined 1 new DC server and 2 File Servers to domain. All users can login on domain, but we have some
