Dear all, ist there any howto updating 2 samba4.1.17 Dcs/production/replicating (Cetos6 /bind_dlz) to samba 4.3.1? What steps are important to succeed? Or is Samba 4.3.1 not ready for production? Greetings Daniel

As for how to upgrade, this sort of depends on how you installed Samba 4.1.17 and how you now intend to install Samba 4.3.1 Rowland
One point which is not yet sure, I must redo tests, is to not seize FSMO and remove old FSMO owner. I tried to switch from 4.3.0 to 4.3.1 replacing all my DCs (so changing DC names, seizing FSMO roles on new server) and I faced lot of DNS issues (starting with SOA not modified) which I thought I solved until I was not able any more to replicate database on newly added DCs. Domain join was still working but no replication after that. No DLZ here. Hello Daniel, Am 19.11.2015 um 10:47 schrieb Mueller:> ist there any howto updating 2 samba4.1.17 Dcs/production/replicating > (Cetos6 /bind_dlz) to samba 4.3.1? > What steps are important to succeed? There's nothing special. Just straight forward. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Updating_Samba#Update_process> Or is Samba 4.3.1 not ready for production? It's ready for production. That's why 4.3 is a stable branch and not samba-master :-) I switched my production environment at work from 4.1.19 to 4.3.1 three weeks ago and see no reason not to update. If you're just updating only your Member Servers and (at the moment) let your DCs at 4.1/4.2, then I suggest you apply the patch from https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11327 to the sources of the Member Servers, before you compile. It fixes a problem in this constellation. Regards, Marc
