ADS member server to 2008 R2
Hi all,
I have a strange problem, and I can't seem to solve it.
I have set up a Ubuntu 9.10 server with samba+kerberos to be an ADS member server. The PDC was a 2003 SBS server, and all was well.
Recently I added a 2008 R2 server standard to the mix, and promoted it as a domain controller. Ever since I did this, the samba server stops working daily.
I have updated to 3.4.7 out of the

Migrate from MS-AD to Samba4
Hi all,
This might be a silly question, but what is the best way to migrate an existing AD domain to promote Samba4 as the domain controller.

Unable to join new domain controller to Samba4 domain
Hi folks,
Everything is working great and I am not having any issues with the three domain controllers that I currently have set up. We are migrating from Puppet to Ansible for configuration management, and I decided to create a playbook that will do all the things necessary to set up a DC and join the domain. I have found that in the domain joining process, an error stops replication from

Joining DC
I am having some trouble joining a new samba4 server as a DC. I am pretty sure this stems from trying to use OpenChange and subsequently removing it. The new samba4 machine is running 4.0.7 and the existing is running 4.0.1. I am a little hesitant to do an in-place upgrade of the last working DC, so I wanted a replica to fall back on in case things go bad.
Any help would be appreciated.

Provision new domain from Windows AD
Hi everyone,
What I want to achieve is to provision a new domain with the users, groups and group policy of an existing AD domain. Is this what I would use the vampire function for? Am I on the wrong track?

No audio on call forward after upgrade from Asterisk 1.4 to 1.6
Hi everyone,
This is my first post to the list, although I am a long term user of Asterisk. I have recently found a problem that I just can't seem to solve.
I have a client that has an Ubuntu x64 based Asterisk server with and ISDN Dahdi interface and about 25 SIP handsets. Everything was working fine in Asterisk 1.4 and now after migrating the config to Asterisk 1.6.2.5 I have one single

new acf package
I'm a PhD student and I'm working with covariance function. I'm interested
to know if exist some packages in R to calculate and plot the
bidimensional Autocovariance Function. the input matrix is a matrix that
describe a spatial location over a 2-D space and I want to use it in the
same way I can use a time serie in the 1-D acf.
Thanks,
Nicola.

Rsync backup issues using relative paths and LVM snapshots
Hi everyone,
I have been using rsync for years to perform off-site backups, and have recently come up with a problem that is starting to hurt my head. I am at the point where I am starting to think that there is a method to achieve my desired outcome that I cannot see.
First, a bit of history. I usually just set up a script that runs many rsync commands in sequence to perform the desired

Problems with ADIT600 and T100P
I am having trouble getting my T100P and ADIT 600 talking. I have 2 FXO

cable connecting two together. Here are copies of the relevant bits of

Something broken in voicemail app??
I updated my source and compiled * last night so I am running
CVS-HEAD-08/24/04-23:51:01. This morning I have noticed that when anyone
tries to retrieve their voicemail, the voicemail app is not recognizing
any digits entered from the phones (cisco 7960's), so It just times-out
waiting for digits. Has anyone else seen this problem or could it be
something in our environment?
TIA,
Jamie

Precision
How precise is R numerically? For example I
wrote the following function for calculating
the volume of the ball inscribed in the
unit cube in m dimensions. In order to see what
happens in 40 dimensions, I created an output
of 24 digits. But how many are precise?
Thanks

I'm looking for statistical

This is my problem:
I have 2 temporal

TE405P E1 coax cables with balun
Hi,
I am new with asterisk. I am setting a Wildcard TE405P. E1s in Italy come in
on a pair of RG-59 coax cables with BNC connectors. So I need an
adapter/balun http://www.allcomtlc.com/al_g703n3.htm . I have It but I am
not sure that It works. I have configured my asterisk in this way:

GPO, multiple DCs, sites and sysvol
Hi list,
I recently realized that using multiple DC has a major drawback when
using Samba
In my understanding, in a classical AD environment, sysvol share is
supposed to be a DFS share. This means that proximity rules are applied
when accessing to it.
When using samba it seems that we face a classical round-robin DNS,
which can lead to the situation where a machine on site A tries to fetch

Active directory sites & subnets
Hello,
Reading about, specifically in the wiki
<https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Active_Directory_Sites> link, says the
following about subnets.
"Create a subnet entry for all subnets in your network and assign them to a
site:"
The subnet on which our DCs are configured is a public IP block, but the
client machines are in a subnet with a private address block.

preparing for a new site with an extra domain controller
Greetings!
after all these years of running Samba I am still learning and having to
learn more :-)
I am trying to research howtos and docs, but from my experience it
sometimes would have been better to ask BEFORE trying things.
So:
At a customer we happily run 2 samba-AD-DCs for one single AD domain, on
one geographical site, in one single IP subnet.

Shared mailbox help needed
Hi everyone,
I am in the middle of a migration from Cyrus 2.4 to Dovecot 2.1.7, and I have everything mostly working. I set up Dovecot to authenticate against Active Directory (Samba4) using PAM and SSSD, and have also used the fantastic cyrus2dovecot perl script to do a test migration of all our mail, and that is now working flawlessly.
I have the issue of shared IMAP accounts to deal with, and
