I used debian Jessie in this case with sernet samba 4.2.3 I had some problems with 4.1.17 on debian, messed up some printernames after driver uploads when i corrected them after. My steps. 1) Install a normal samba4 member server. 2) setup your printers in cups and let them print to the 9100 port. Send a

Cups printers autoloading and windows drivers
Hello samba team ! I have configured a samba4 printer with CUPS as backend. And I have enabled the "load printers = yes" option in smb.conf. Nearly everything works well ! -> Samba detect the CUPS printers -> The printers appear automatically in the "printers" share -> On windows 7 I can add the server the printmanagement.msc and I see the printers -> I can upload

Hai, Sorry for the slow reaction here. I was few days out of the office. But can you try the universal 2 driver. That one works fine for me. And if you send me the exact driver your trying to me, i'll test that one in my setup. Samba and printing=cups; printers disappear after a while
Hello there, We're using a reasonably large network of linux boxes, about 6 of them offering printing services through CUPS. This has worked remarkably stably for the last months, but we've got one lasting problem with Samba that someone may have a hint to offer. We use an smbd on one of the linux boxes that offers the shared CUPS printers to the windows clients on the network. Now

Samba 4.7 package-aware print driver
Hi ! I have seen on Wiki that samba 4.7 print server is package-aware: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Automatic_Printer_Driver_Downloads_for_Windows_Clients To use package-aware drivers: - Run Samba 4.7 and later - Enable the spoolssd service Also in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_a_Print_Server Support package-aware Windows drivers. I upgraded my

How the program spoolss works ?
So after Rowland's adviced changes. I use this part for printing. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_a_Print_Server I added this to the smb.conf for my print server (note, i use a member server). I use cups - raw so my clients generate the print job. ##### PRINT SERVER PART ####### #enable asu support = yes ## Enabling spoolssd rpc_server:spoolss = external

Samba Printing to Win98
I am trying to allow printing from my linux box to my win98 box, to which my epson stylus printer is attached. It's just not happening...something tells me I'm flirting with a world of pain. I *can* print a file by going: smbclient //rory/EPSON translate print /etc/group but I cannot print from applications, nor can i use smbprint. I tried going: cat /etc/passwd | sh -x smbprint

can't create printers after upgrading cups
After upgrading cups on my CentOS 6 systems from version 1.4.2-72.el6 to 1.4.2-77.el6, I am no longer able to create working printers, either with lpadmin from the command line or with system-config-printer. When I try to run lpadmin, I get this simple error: [root at vlsi66 ~]# lpadmin -p newprinter -v lpd://printserver/serverqueue-E -P /path/to/ppd/thing.ppd lpadmin: Unknown [root at vlsi66

can't create printers after upgrading cups
It looks like this may just be a bug upstream: https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3001891 Still trying the work-arounds. --- Mike VanHorn Senior Computer Systems Administrator College of Engineering and Computer Science Wright State University 265 Russ Engineering Center 937-775-5157 michael.vanhorn at wright.edu On 4/26/17, 9:51 AM, "CentOS on behalf of Vanhorn, Mike"

Printing problem with CUPS and lp/lpr
I know that printing on Linux is somewhat of an art form, but I have a fairly simple problem. I used the following command to configure a networked printer (HP LaserJet 8150): lpadmin -p name -E -v socket://name -m laserjet.ppd -u allow:all - u deny:none This added and enabled the printer, and I can print to it using the print command from within a GUI application and PostScript
