Mongrel spinning on read_multipart
On Zed''s suggestion, I caught two new spinning mongrels and sent a SIGUSR2. The code appears to be stuck in read_multipart for both processes: # kill -USR2 6109 ** USR2 signal received. Undefined class/module error: solved?
The Problem ----------- We have been getting a "undefined class/module" error on 2 of our 6 app servers in one testbed. Same sourcecode, same installs (systemimager and an isconf style configuration management harness), same binaries. Identical everything. Pound + mongrel + memcached + postgres (pgcluster). The odd bit here is that our "dev" and "prod" pairs had

[SEC] Mongrel Temporary Fix For cgi.rb 99% CPU DoS Attack
This is important so please read this message very carefully. There is a DoS for Ruby''s cgi.rb that is easily exploitable. The attack involves sending a malformed multipart MIME body in an HTTP request. The full explanation of the attack as well as how to fix it RIGHT NOW is given below. Most of the work was done by Jeremy Kemper and Jamis Buck. They did all the work of building the

Memcached 1.6.5 (Rails 2.3) 10x slower
The move to memcached_client 1.6.5 in Rails 2.3 seems to have made the Rails cache about 10x slower. Since that''s the opposite effect I would expect, I was hoping somebody would explain where I''m misreading these numbers? I noticed my fragment caching was slow -- it shouldn''t take 2ms just to read a 2k string from a localhost memcached server: Cached fragment hit:

Static files in public
My question is about the static files in the Rails public folder. These files should be served by Apache instead of Mongrel, so do I need to upload these files to Apache''s htdoc''s or will Apache cache them the first time they are requested from Mongrel... Im not sure how this works? Many thanks.

Asterisk SIP calls failing - not a proxy? What of RTP codec transcoding?
I have an Asterisk 0.4.0 install working with two grandstream budgetone 100 phones, gnophone, and kphone. This is a private network segment (172.17.x.x), with the PBX configured on my outbound firewall which has a public address (66.x.x.x). - I can make calls between phones - all extensions are working. - I can make IAX calls to IAXTEL. No problems (apparently gsm only) - I can call SIP phone

Handling of SIGUSR1 in dispatch.fcgi
The latest version of dispatch.fcgi in the trunk has the following code snippet: trap("USR1") do # Go to exit as soon as possible. end One of the issues I encountered while debugging fcgi under windows is that SIGUSR1 is not supported in the native Windows version of Ruby (though it is in cygwin). Currently, I have it commented out to allow dispatch.fcgi to run without blowing up.

Setup with Apache 2.2 proxy balancer : timeout during uploads
Hi all, I encounter timeout errors during file uploads in my Rails application. I think the problem may be in the Mongrel configuration. Here is my setup: * Load balancer (Cisco CSM, my provider''s Catalyst 6509) * Apache 2.2.3 with mod_proxy_balancer * Mongrel 0.3.13.3 * Rails 1.1.6 * Ruby 1.8.4 * MySQL 5.0.22 * file_column I host an application in which users may upload medium files

IAX <> IAX trunking... DP cache?
I'm attempting to get two Asterisk 0.4.0 PBXes to communicate with one another using IAX/IAX2 trunks. I've managed to get a semi-functional NAT Firewall working as a PBX (with Asterisk running directly on the firewall itself), but there are issues with bind()ing to various interfaces which is causing outbound SIP issues. To get around these issues, the idea is to do something like

repeatable disconnections when rsyncing over ssh
Hi, I have a problem with rsyncing large data sets (consisting bunch of small files) over ssh. rsync 2.6.6 on both sides. Linux 2.6.10 on receiving side, 2.6.12.6 on sending side. This strace is from rsyncing over 2Mbit link but I can repeat it over 100Mbps lan, too (while testing on lan 2.6.11.3 was on sending and 2.6.12.6 on receiving side). I wonder what can be problem here? Some
