Ghost DNS Entry (WERR_DNS_ERROR_RECORD_ALREADY_EXISTS)
Hi, I've the same problem but I'm on samba version 4.1.12 and gentoo and also using bind backend. However, my result are a bit different. In my case, the entry cannot be seen from RAT nor can i add/delete the same name entry (same like you) However I can still ping or resolve that host name... That was the strange part... I would like to know the answer as well. Regards, Min Wai On

[Bridge] aoe/vblade on "localhost"
hello ! i try to use a network technology on one single host, which wasn`t designed for that. to give a short overview of what i`m talking about: AoE is just like a "networked blockdevice" (just like nbd/enbd) - but without tcp/ip. AoE kernel driver is the "client end" (see this like an iSCSI initiator) - and an etherblade storage appliance is the "server end"

"Empty" DNS entry, no A record, can't delete or update
Hi, I am running Samba 4.1.0 with Bind 9.8.4 and I am struggling with an "empty" DNS entry. I used Microsofts DNS MMC to add an A record to one of my zones, later deleted this entry because I wanted to move the record to another zone. After I moved it backed the A record (and the PTR) was invisible in the MMC. nslookup still works for the IP and hostname from the PDC and other hosts

Ok, we might have found something here. I created a small script, see below, easy to adapt. So, after running this i see the same problem as in : https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14268 If i do it manualy everything works fine. But if i "past the commands or run the script" Then i see this problem.. So im thinking here, the speed of adding is creating somekind or

New PTR records not visible
Hello Lois, thanks for looking into this. Have you looked at what the original poster shared in the bug report? https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14268 I don't have a big problem with this, just trying to help. Maybe the original poster can say more with regards of the problem he has with this. here are more of my details. Regards #####samba-debug-info.txt##############

New PTR records not visible
Yet that still does not explain why the PTR record I create for that IP does not become visible. I can create other PTR records in the same zone and they do become visible to DNS lookups. I suspect it has something to do with half-dead entries in the database that are blocking it... Intermittant Samba glitch
Hi there, Let me just start by saying that I am a bit of a Linux newbie, but that Shorewall seems an excellant product. The issue I''m reporting wont stop me from using it, it still does 99% of what I need. Anyway, I have a resonably simple two interface system. My server (HatMannz, P3-900MHz with a RAID-1 array of 80GB IDE drives running Red Hat 9.0) connects to a cable modem via eth1

How to get rid of misspelled DNA entry?
Dear list, I have a strange problem. In RSAT is had a typo when adding a reverse lookup entry, i.e. I added something like "host.samdo.com" instead of "host.samdom.com". No a reverse lookup yields to entries, the correct one and the misspelled one. :-( Deleting it in RSAT is impossible, as the misspelled entry doesn't show up here. Deleting in by samba-tool is

Access denied editing DNS using RSAT
Hello, I'm trying to replace an old Windows Server 2003 with Samba 4 and I've got a problem trying to add some DNS entries. My config file is the generated by samba-tool and I'm using Samba 4.7.0rc5 compiled on a Debian 8 amd64: [global] netbios name = DC1 realm = DOMAIN.DOM
