reshaping pairs of columns
Given a data frame consisting of a pointID and 12 pairs of (lat, long)
variables, with names
latA, longA, latB, longB, ... latL, longL, I want to reshape it into a
data frame with the structure

I've looked at reshape and plyr, but can't figure out how to do this.

Plotting coxph survival curves
Hi,
I am attempting to plot survival curves estimated by cox proportional
hazards regression model. The formula for the model is this:
F.cox.weight <- coxph(Surv(Lifespan, Status) ~ MS + Weight + Laid + MS:Laid
+ Weight:Laid, data = LongF)
MS = Mating status (mated/virgin)
Weight = adult female weight, continuous covariate
Laid = number of eggs laid by each female, continuous covariate

High Performance SSH/SCP - HPN-SSH when?
Hi,

Clearly, the HPN patches significantly boost throughput performance.
This enhancement is entirely from tuning the SSH buffer sizes.

Problem in long timeouts file access
I have a very strange problem accessing some files on a samba share that
are in use from many windows7 client machines. I'm experiencing long
timeouts: 5-30 seconds per file on very small xml files.
The share is accessed by contemporary Windows7 machines at the time they
are shut down.
It seems to me that some of the files remain opened and locked to all
other clients at server side while the

FreeBSD NFS file locking mechanism
Hi all,
I have some machines running FreeBSD and dovecot deployed. User's home
dir is on NFS mount and I've found that dovecot only works with
dotlock file locking mechanism, fcntl and flock failed. Now it causes
problem with thunderbird (thunderbird is cachine connections) waiting
forever and I noticed that dovecot is trying to acquire a lock but
unsuccessful since the lock file is in

Win2K or Samba Caching?
I have a PDC that is Samba 3.0 setup to talk to an OpenLDAP server for
authentication, and I was able to get a user to log in to a Windows 2000
machine on the domain. Then I tried adding additional users, but none
of them could log in. So I tried deleting the admin user from the LDAP
database, but the user could still log into the Windows 2000 machine.
Then I tried stopping the LDAP

Problem de mangling
Hi all !
I'm new on this mailing list...
We have just installed samba v1.9.18p4.
But we have problems with mangling of file names.
We would like to preserve the case of windows files > 8 char. when
copying files to the server. However, we want to keep 8.3 format files
in lower case.
The question is : how to configure all the

Help in Password Server
Hello,

I have a Samba TNG server which SUCCEEDS in authenticating all users stored

smbclient tar restore problem (linkflag) from tape-drive
Greetings,
I am currently having a problem using smbclient (Samba v2.05a)
running on Solaris 2.5.1 to restore a tar file from a tape drive
onto a Win NT share.
smbclient works successfully when using a tar file on disk,
but is skipping the tar file (created by a third party)
on the tape drive.
The command used is as follows:
smbclient //celeborn/test -U peter -T x /dev/rmt/0

long file names and their 8-chars versions
Hello,
we have a ubuntu-server edgy file server (file system of the shared
files: ext3) and a win xp client with an old program that shows up the
8-char version of long file names.
While in windows the association is as follows:
longfilename -> LONGFI~1
longfilename2 -> LONGFI~2
...in ext3 the association is not so 'straight-on' and this forces my
colleague to guess the names...

wine and microsoft word file write errors ???
Hello all,
Wine is getting solid enough that it is appropriate for some real work,
however it still is failing write with write errors from MS Word.
Updates, reads, edits, fonts, etc all seem to be fine. However any write
causes a disk full or permissions error. I am running as root root in
this case and other programs under wine write w/o error.
If it is any clue the file name shows up as

Longfile names and Samba
I'm using RedHat 7.3 and samba 2.2.7a,
Using windows98 and NT4 workstations, I get a weird problem.
Writing a longfilename directory on a real NT server a direct. like
program files would be \progra~1
On a samba server it's changed in progr~NK or something like this. It's
never the same. Therefor, for older dos applications it's not possible to
enter the directory.

libvirtd does not update VM .xml configuration on filesystem after virsh blockcommit
Hi,
Recently We've upgraded some KVM hosts from Fedora 29 to Fedora 30 and
now experience broken VM configurations on filesystem after virsh blockcommit.
Commands "virsh dumpxml ..." and "virsh dumpxml --inactive ..." is showing diffrent configuration than the one on filesystem.
In case of restart libvirtd or system reboot, there are broken VM xml configurations on

bilinear and non linear
Dear all,
there are R packages able to simulate or estimate bilinear model for time
series?
I know it is an open problem, but do exist something for very simplified
bilinear models?
Alternatively, what kinfd of non linear time series models are performed
in R?
If R is not able, could someone suggest me for some commercial softwares
to deal with bilinear models?
i'm afraid of a negative
