samba slowing down
The longer our samba runs the more delayed the responses become. Samba has been running for 5 months but this new development was noticed 2 weeks ago. The first major sign of the issue was a new DC was trying to join and failed due to timeout errors. At close look we see performance degradation within a few hours or when we try to join a new DC. smb.conf # Global parameters [global]

Samba pid in uninterruptible state
Greetings, I recently upgraded Samba on an Ubuntu 14.04.2 server from version 4.1.9 to 4.2.3. Upon rebooting Samba process goes into a running state then after a short time it will go into an uninterruptible state. If I check the log.samba, it appears that it is attempting to start, then hangs at the following: [2016/06/23 15:16:00.329503, 3] ../source4/param/share.c:124(share_register)

4.1.17 compile error on AIX
Greetings everyone, I am having some issues compiling the latest for the AIX platform. The build and configure are all with the default entries. The latest samba we have running is 4.0.8 (source3/autoconf build). This is our first shot at using the waf/python tool. I would like to reach out if any others who have yet to migrate off the proprietary AIX platform have run into this error, and if

Samba4 on Ubuntu server
New to linux and new to Samba so any direction in troubleshooting would be helpful. Here is what I have so far. Within a half an hour of a reboot of the server my cpu reaches high numbers and becomes slow to respond on all actions. With my limited understanding I have used vmstat to observe the system. I noticed is that the numbers of forks grows from 1-2k to 43k within 30 minutes after reboot. I

MySql 4.1.9, passwords, Rails
After spending a lot of time today trying to get CocoaMySQL connecting to a remote MySQL 4.1.9 server via ssh tunnel and then experiencing the password hashing issue locally when I put in passwords on my local Mysql server, I started wondering about Rails compatibility. Will rails now hash passwords correctly when connecting to MySql 4.1.7+, or should I stick with using old_password() when

Outlook prompting for password after domain(samba 4.1.9) login password change
We have a samba 4.1.9 as a active directory domain controller and a police to change the password every 42 days. When our users change their domain login password , their Outlook will prompt for their email password. Our active directory domain is @abc.com and our email is @xyz.com. Our email system is Qmail , so the email password and domain login password are stored on different system. I

Mount share on Synology NAS (Samba 3.6.9) as client of Samba 4.1.9 AD DC
I set-up a basic AD DC using samba 4.1.9 successfully. I joined my NAS to the domain, i.e. I saw no errors and see the users and groups of my AD listed in the GUI of the NAS. When I try to connect to a share of the NAS the following happens: mgr at ws1:~$ smbclient -U 'AD\mgr' //nas/Test Enter AD\mgr's password: Domain=[AD] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.6.9] tree connect failed:
