Samba printing
Using samba 3.05 and the point and print features how does one setup tcp/ip ports for printing. After having loaded the print drivers using the APW all the printer ports show a local port on the samba server and all of my printers use a 192.168.10.X address. Is there anyway this can automatically happen without user intervention. I wasn't able to locate this info in the how to's.

windows sysvol share
Hello, I have manually mounted the SYSVOL share, sync it with samba and run samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset. windows sysvol share
Of course, the sysvol is located on a windows controller from the forest. mount -t cifs -o username=domain_admin_user //windowsDC.myDomain.local/SYSVOL /mnt/smb/sysvol and copied the files with -R --preserve to /usr/local/samba/var/locks/sysvol/ Below logs are provided from /usr/local/samba/var/log.smbd file. regards, On Wed, Mar 18, 2015 at 3:36 PM, Rowland Penny <rowlandpenny at

[4.3.11-Ubuntu] SMBD keeps Locks on NTUSER.DAT and ntuser.ini after logout
After having migrated my machines and user to Samba 4.3.11 on Ubuntu 16.04.1 (no domain upgrade, new provision, all accounts new defined) and old data copied over to the new machines, I have now a broader testbed and notice issues I didn't see prior to that. Having roaming profiles (defined in the user object in LDB)... Seemingly at random smbd keeps locks on NTUSER.DAT and ntuser.ini for a

smbstatus show open files when none are
I recently (a few weeks ago) installed 1.9.18p8 in order to get better performance with an Access Database, which along with adding a TCP_NODELAY in the [global] section has that working like a charm. Thing that's bugging me now is smbstatus. When I run it I see open files listed when I know that they aren't. The following output shows quite a few files open that aren't really. The

samba3.0.10
Hi Jerry/Samba Team I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on Solaris8 server and Samba-client-2.2.10 installed on Linux Red Hat2.1AS servers The Linux servers use Samba to mount filesystems from Solaris8 server. My question is how to find out on the Solaris8 server which Linux servers are using Samba to mount from. Because it is hideous to go to every Linux server and see which Solaris8 server they are

strang locking behaviour with macosx clients
I'm running a samba pdc on my gentoo box in a mixed environment with a couple of Windows XP clients and only a few MacOSX clients. The users told me, the file locking across the platforms does not work properly sometimes. I tried to google my problem, but without luck. I switched all the flags related the lock mechanism of samba on and off, but the problem seems to be solved yet. The only

File Locking
Hi, I'm running smbd 2.2.8. I'm a little green when it comes to file locking with samba. I have two users that access a single data file on a FreeBSD box. It's a moneydance data file and obviously it gets messed-up if two users are writing to it at the same time. Is there a way with samba to stop a second instance of the file from being opened, something like a "File In

samba slowing down
The longer our samba runs the more delayed the responses become. Samba has been running for 5 months but this new development was noticed 2 weeks ago. The first major sign of the issue was a new DC was trying to join and failed due to timeout errors. At close look we see performance degradation within a few hours or when we try to join a new DC. smb.conf # Global parameters [global]

Freebsd + Samba + Ldap + Acls -> No locking file
Hello.. File server freebsd 6.2-STABLE + samba-3.0.25a + ldap + acls Problem: I've a situation where file locking does not seem to be functioning as expected, in that more than one user can open and write to a file without any notifications being displayed about the file already being opened by another user. I have two Windows XP clients accessing the same shared file, user1 has the file
