Samba 3.2 PDC - Creating Zone Identifier files and not able to read/write/delete them.
Hello,
I use a Suse 11.0 as a Samba 3.2 PDC. The clients run XP SP3. I have
upgraded a few weeks ago from Suse 10.3 and now all files tranfer that I do
- for example, downloading a file using a web browser - it leaves a trash
file named "transferd-file:Zone.Identifier" or "tranferd-file:encryptable".
The odd thing is that from Windows I can`t read/write/delete these files.

Can't modify ms word files with samba 3.3
Hello,
I tried this week to upgrade my samba 3.2.4 (2 PDCs one trusting the
other) to samba 3.3.0 then samba 3.3.1, and apart from the problem
with winbindd and trusted domain, my users are not able to modify any
ms word document (excel does the same).
You can open the file correctly, modify it, and when saving it, it
pops up "Access denied"
If you try to save the file in the same

NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED Joining Domain - Desperately need help
I am desperately in need of help. I have a Centos 7.2 server running Samba 4.6.13 as an active directory domain controller. I am trying to join a new Centos 7.4 server running Samba 4.6.13 to the domain. The domain command will not connect to the other server.
I have firewalld and selinux disabled on both servers, I can ping both ways. From the new server I was able to do a kinit -U

Share authentication problem
Hi @ll !
I am trying to set up a samba fileserver in SuSe 42.3 as domain member
in a debian based Samba4 AD. The join seems to be ok, as I can get
/wbinfo -u/ and /-g/, and /getent group/ and /passwd/.
I can also list all browsable shares with /smbclient -L \\SambaFS
-Uusername/, but when i add -k, I get following errors :
/SPNEGO(gse_krb5) creating NEG_TOKEN_INIT for cifs/Samba1 failed

Slow write performance CIFS mount
Hi,
I have detected a very low performance with cp command or any write
with CIFS mount (Netapp Storage), <15mb/s. Read performance is similar
Local disk perofrmance is correct >100mb/s
fstab entry is :
//netapp/resource$/folder /mnt/test cifs
username=u,password=p,domain=dom,iocharset=utf8,uid=1001,gid=1000,dir_mode=0700,file_mode=0700,auto
Server is SLES 12 SP3 with latest updates

Ok, please post of both servers the smb.conf and tell the samba versions.
You have a misconfiguration in these.

NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED Joining Domain - Desperately need help - [SOLVED]
Found the solution shortly after I sent this e-mail. Needed to add "tls
enabled = no" to the working server to get the other server to restore
functionality.

plm issues: error for "within" or "random", but not for "pooling"
Dear all
I am working on unbalanced panel data and I can readily fit a
"pooling" model using plm(), but not a "within" or "random" model.
Reproducing the examples in vignette("plm") and in the AER package I
encountered no such issues.

lesson learned: script/runner does not abort on failed require
After a fresh installation of an application, some utility scripts
run with script/runner quietly aborted right after their start. No
error message whatsoever, just a new shell prompt. The reason was an
uninstalled dependecy, but that was difficult to determine because
the load failure was not reported:
% ruby script/runner ''require "foobarbaz"''
