Hello list, I install the tinc 1.0.33 through Homebrew using the below command: brew install tinc And I configure the tinc and want to start it, but the tinc logs shows that utun socket resource busy: /u/l/C/t/1.0.33 ❯❯❯ cat /usr/local/Cellar/tinc/1.0.33/logs/tincd.log 2018-02-26 16:04:15 tinc[60361]: tincd 1.0.33 starting, debug level 0 2018-02-26 16:04:15 tinc[60361]: Could not connect utun

Is it possible to mix router and switch mode in same network?
Would it be possible to mix the router and switch mode in the same tinc network?  I’m running tinc for a couple of years now in switch mode. It works very well. I have a dozen of vm’s connected to a couple of VM’s on 2 physical nodes. Those VM’s on the physical nodes are connected via a 2nd interface to an openvswitch bridge on which those physical nodes provide the connection outside. As extra

samba share setup witn nt acl permissions
Hi all, I am trying to setup a file server using nt acl -like permissioning(like the ones with windows server 2003) but dunno where to start. I am switching to Samba because of speed, less maintenance and most of all FREE! Can anyone post me the step by step solution(guide) or point me in the right direction specifically on installing samba with nt-acl like permissioning? Thanks. Joel

Troubleshooting on OS X
> kextload /Library/Extensions/tun.kext/ I didn't have a /Library/Extensions/tun.kext/ on my machine. I googled around, and downloaded and installed from http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/. Not sure why the macports install didn't work, but it seems I'm making progress. Now I get this: > sudo tincd -n dpsf -D -d3 tincd 1.0.21 (Feb 3 2015 20:09:36) starting, debug level 3

Support for macOS feth devices
Hi, I am currently using the L2 tunnel feature of ssh between two Linux machines, and it works beautifully! As a result, I have come to prefer a workflow that uses an L2 tunnel, but I can't seem to find a long-term solution for this workflow on macOS. At the moment, tap devices on macOS can be generated using a kernel extension like tuntaposx <http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/>;

tinc-up on Mac OS X
Hello, I'm trying to get tinc working on my mac. It appears to connect to other nodes, but I can't actually use the vpn. If I enter the command ifconfig tun0 10.11.12.195 netmask 255.255.255.0 I get the error ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): Destination address required If I enter the commands ifconfig tun0 10.11.12.195 10.11.12.195 netmask 255.255.255.0 route add -net 10.11.12.0

SSH ok, SFTP ok , SCP broken... custom shell
Hi, Can anyone explain why a shell-wrapper script of the following form breaks scp? Can this kind of thing be re-worked to fix the breakage? The wrapper does not produce output, and checks a shell.allow file to see if access to a real shell such as bash should be granted. ------------ eg : #!/bin/sh if [ grep $LOGNAME /etc/shell.allow 2>&1 > /dev/null ] then exec -a - /bin/bash

pxelinux and booting dos
I have got pxelinux booting a DOS ramdisk via the memdisk program from the command line. However I am having a problem getting it to use the configuration file. pxelinux find the configuration directory, pxelinux.cfg and then finds the file, C0A801, and reads the file, but no matter what I put on my "kernel" line, it looks for a kernel named "linux". When I create a sofft

State of the UNDI stack after booting a DOS image
I'm using PxeLinux to bot DOS images for an automated test application. After Running the DOS application program, I want to use the UNDI stack to send a completion status message to the server. I boot the DOS image with keeppxe, so that the UNDI stack will continue to be in memory. I am not clear as to what state the stack is left in after PxeLinux has loaded and transferred control to the

Troubleshooting on OS X
I've got tinc running happily on a couple linux and win computers, but no luck on OS X. I'm on Yosemite 10.10.5, and I think I followed the OS X tutorial exactly, but no luck. 1.1~pre17 is no longer available for OSX from Homebrew.
Hey Folks, It seems that Homebrew for some reason arbitrarily decided to banish all of the --devel flavors from all of their installable packages.  I couldn't find any discussion as to why or what they intend to replace the function with. **update;  this is where they decided to do this; https://github.com/Homebrew/brew/pull/5060#issuecomment-428149176 But in the meantime, 1.1pre17 is

problems with routing via tinc
Hi, Hopefully someone can help me. I've been trying to set up a private vpn, for both internal ipv6 and ipv4 traffic. There are two Hosts involved with the vpn at the moment. I've been struggling with this but am now going round in circles - Can anyone recognise and explain what i'm doing wrong? The tinc daemons are listening on an ipv4 address, connected to the standard

make tinc as a reusable lib possible?
Network extension apps are just like ordinary apps, only they can utilize the utun interface and create VPN entries. So I think, yes, tinc need to be linked from such apps.
