Rewritten script /etc/init.d/tinc
THis is the modified script that came with tinc 1.0pre2, and it now uses ifconfig in stead of
ip-route.
I changed the syntax to be correct (may already have been fixedin a newer version), it now checks
whether or not there is a '/dev/tapX' or a '/dev/netlink/tapX' and it checks if there is a module or
not.
I also added the force_connect and the reload options. Force_connect send

tinc 1.1pre. How to automatically start vpn tunnels? How to change the installation/config path to the same as tinc 1.0.x version from ubuntu repository?
Hi!
I have compiled and installed tinc 1.1pre5 on a ubuntu machine.
With the tinc 1.0.x version that is included in the ubuntu repository I am used to having the config files in /etc/tinc/ and where each vpn has a own directory.
The file nets.boot placed in /etc/tinc where I can specify which vpn tunnels that is going to start automatically.
How can I get the vpn tunnels to start automatically

init script for tinc-1.1pre10
HI,
Is there an init script to start stop tinc tinc-1.1pre10 for debian.
I am running tinc -n name --pidfile /dir/name start from /etc/rc.local
sometimes it's not creating the pid file but I see the process running.
It would be great if we can manage it from /etc/init.d/
Thanks
Anil

Problem with init script of tinc in debian squeeze
Hi,
I am running Tinc on debian squeeze, when I reboot, the tincd daemon
is not running at all, despite having the right link in rc2.d:
root at box /etc/rc2.d [9]# ls S03tinc*
S03tinc
When I do /etc/init.d/tinc start, it works fine.
Any idea what is the problem?
Best,

autolog: easily debug-like logging on the fly in your Rails app
If it helps anyone developing Rails apps or gems, I wrote a shortcut for
set_trace_func, so next time you want to just add a line before and after
some function you are trying to debug you can have Ruby temporarily output
every line, method, etc. executed. Also, it lets you define the format, use
other loggers, etc. via a proc/lambda define, since you might not like the
default format.

Connection dropping every 24 hours from Windows Client.
I changed my SMB.conf on the DC's and the member as per your instructions. Now the connection dropped at 10 hours, which appears to be the default end time of the certificate.

Hi everyone.
I'm encountering problems with the management of the id of the users,
in the DC and in the domain members (RFC2370).
I'm using Samba Version 4.2.10-Debian on Debian8.5.
This is the DC configuration / result.

Wine and Java timezone problem.
Hi!
I am using wine to compile code for Texas Instruments dsp's. One step in
the process is generating code from a graphic configuration file (tcf).
When I try to do that, it fails with some Java related messages. The -b
in my command tells tconf.exe to run in batch mode, so it doesn't try to
open a GUI or something like that. I ran the same command in a dos-shell
and it worked

Samba4 Member Server not working
Hi,
I have one Samba4 server running as Active Directory Domain Controller.
It's working like a charm.
So I needed to add another server to be a Member Server (File Server).
The server is running samba-4.0.9.
Configured and compiled ok:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba --sysconfdir=/etc
--localstatedir=/var --mandir=/usr/man --bindir=/usr/bin
--sbindir=/usr/sbin --libdir=/lib

When testing dependency based boot sequencing, I discovered a bug in

Connection dropping every 24 hours from Windows Client.
Hello
I have a problem with my Windows 10 drive connections dropping every 24
hours, very briefly. It's enough to cause me to be unable to save my file,
or access a geodatabase. I have followed much trouble shooting and I
believe that its due to the KDC Service ticket lifetime expiring, I have it
set for 24 hours in smb.conf.
I have a Samba 4.9 DC and an Ubuntu 18.04 member file

OpenSSH Feature Requests
Dear OpenSSH-Team,
after looking through your website (Bug Reports, FAQ, etc.) this is the
best email-address I could find for submitting a feature idea/request.
Please excuse if this is not the correct address and kindly forward.
When working with OpenSSH in larger networks I often had to use
different keys for different hosts (with or without passphrases) to gain
proper access. The major
