[Announcement] Tinc version 1.1pre12 released
Guus: Great job. I would love to see a library version of Tinc for linux. Kind of like an API instead of configuration files. Don't have time right now, but maybe one day I will re-factor the code for library orientation. It would have a single unix socket with a JSON API. I use Tinc on linux Ubuntu 15.10 x64 for all my vpn stuff. It allows Elastic Search and RethinkDB to survive in the

keeping UDP "session" alive when using NAT
I'm running Tinc on a Linux machine inside my home network, connecting through a NATing router to a Tinc server out on the Internet. I've noticed that fairly frequently the SSH sessions I leave open (but unused) get aborted with a "Connection reset by peer" message. When I investigated closely, I found that after a period of inactivity my router times out the UDP

tinc generating invalid packet checksums?
We have a Zenoss server in our main office monitoring (among many other things) an Apache server in a remote network, with a Tinc link between the two networks. The monitoring simply involves making an HTTP request to a URL once every 5 minutes and confirming that a response page comes back. Most of the requests to this particular web server succeed (and similar requests to other web servers

Is there any chance some configuration file on Node 1 got changed somehow after the previous time you started up the daemon, such that when you restarted it recently it came up with a different configuration than it had before?

Examples request - tinc witn tun/utun mode=router
Hi Folks, Does anyone have a set of config files handy, using tinc in routed/tun mode (preferably DeviceType=utun) I'm particularly interested to see what the tinc-up and tinc-down files should look like when the vpn is not using tap mode. I have this, from my tap (switch mode tinc) , but it doesn't work for tun devices.    ifconfig $INTERFACE inet 10.10.101.2/24 up If I run my

Is it possible to mix router and switch mode in same network?
Would it be possible to mix the router and switch mode in the same tinc network?  I’m running tinc for a couple of years now in switch mode. It works very well. I have a dozen of vm’s connected to a couple of VM’s on 2 physical nodes. Those VM’s on the physical nodes are connected via a 2nd interface to an openvswitch bridge on which those physical nodes provide the connection outside. As extra

[Patch] Fix NAME variable in subnet-* scripts for local subnets.
Hi, attached is a patch that fixes that the NAME variable in subnet-up/down scripts for local subnets is not set. The reason for this was that there was a "hole" in the envp array in src/subnet.c:subnet_update(). If the subnet was local, envp[6] was NULL and the evaluation stoped there. Actually, the name string was leaking. This is easily fixed by changing the order in the array. I
