Large scale tinc tests
Well. I want to test subnet propagation, alternate paths, etc... Do this, I would use Imunes because im very familiar with it.. I want to build small test network around 10 nodes with different connectivity between them and then lay-out tinc network on it. Then I can just set BER=1 to kill links and see how things happen etc.. Nice spot about ng_eiface indeed. I'll check it out.. As for

MFC requests for 6.3
I would like to request that some useful work on networking be MFCed from -CURRENT to -STABLE in time for the release of FreeBSD 6.3. In particular, I'd like to see some of the Netgraph nodes which are new or which have seen extensive development brought in -- ng_nat and ng_car in particular. Bringing in the latest version of ng_nat would allow more flexible in-kernel NAT, while ng_car (which

7.x and multiple IPs in jails
Hello all, I've been searching around and have come up with no current discussions on this issue. I'll keep it brief: In 7.0 or 7.1 is there any provision to have multiple IP addresses in a jail? I'm stumped on this, as I just started a new hosting project that needs a few jails. At least one of those requires multiple IPs, which is something I never really even realized was

There are few reasons why I stick to older OSes. In case of FreeBSD its my customized Imunes platform for network simulations... Commit 68f4ca7 issues
Hi. I have issues building tincd-1.0.26 on FreeBSD 4.11 Seems commit 68f4ca711593416d0defd81199b176ba604c6cb1 that "modernizes" build system was a bad idea after all? Not sure why merging lib/ to src/ was done. Most software I see contains directories like compat/ to aid building for older or broken environments.. This makes clear difference between software sources itself (src) and

Reducing the need to compile a custom kernel
Hi, during some big discussions in the last monts on various lists, one of the problems was that some people would like to use freebsd-update but can't as they are using a custom kernel. With all the kernel modules we provide, the need for a custom kernel should be small, but on the other hand, we do not provide a small kernel-skeleton where you can load just the modules you need.

segmentation fault with Hmisc areg.boot(): Now acepack avas failure
Hi Folks, Mac OS 10.4.4 R 2.2.1(2005-12-20 r36812) Hmisc 3.0-10 acepack 1.3-2.2 I had R crashes while running areg.boot in Hmisc (see old message below), but now I realize that the problem appears to be in the avas function in acepack. I tried running running the avas example (in acepack package), and got an immediate crash. Any thoughts? The Apple crash report (from R GUI crash) follows.

mpd VPN won't work after upgrade from 4.6-STABLE to 4.8-STABLE
I upgraded a week ago from 4.6-STABLE to 4.8-STABLE, and subsequently my mpd-based VPN ceased to function, giving me all kinds of "protocol rejected" messages. I haven't seen any such reports lately on this list or questions about it on freebsd-questions, so I'm wondering what it's related to. I can provide more details on request, but I first wanted to see if anyone knows

MacOSX 10.4.11 update breaks tests/lapack.R (R 2.6.0)? (PR#10454)
Hello, It seems the recent Mac OS X 10.4.11 update installed a new libBLAS.dylib in the Accelerate framework which either contains a bug itself or exposes a bug somewhere in R's lapack code on the PowerPC G4 and G5. My build of R 2.6.0 executed the tests/lapack.R code succesfully when I upgraded when 2.6.0 was released. After the OS update, it now crashes. This happens both with the version I

VPN through BSD for Win2k, totally baffled
Scenario: FreeBSD box running IPFW acting as a gateway to private network. The private network is made up of entirely routeable IP addresses. External users running Win2k and XP on DSL connections with dynamic IPs. Goal: To have the FreeBSD gateway securely authenticate and encrypt the traffic between the outside users and the internal network. I've spent the last 3 days running up and
