c2d4u3.5 ppa for Ubuntu 20.04?
Hi I tried to use Michael's ppa after having installed Ubuntu 20.04 and R 4, and it seems the ppa is not available now for 20.04, I get message: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/marutter/c2d4u3.5/ubuntu focal Release' does not have a Release file Am I doing something wrong, or is it correct that it is not available yet? Are there any plans to implement it at some point?

Timezone conversion on Ubuntu 20.04
Hi all, I am testing R 4.0 and ran into an issue with timezones on Ubuntu Focal: converting a timestamp to another timezone results in NA: as.POSIXct(as.POSIXlt(Sys.time(), tz = "CET"), tz = "EST") This only happens on Ubuntu Focal, it seems to work fine on Ubuntu Bionic. I am the standard ubuntu docker image icw/ r-base from Dirk's ppa:edd/r-4.0 on both systems. Am I

Repo for ubuntu focal 20.04 LTS
Hello Dovecot, As the new ubuntu LTS 20.04 seems to be out, I would like to ask if there are any plans to add a repo like it already exists for 18.04 LTS. We planned to upgrade our 18.04 LTS boxes to 20.04. It has it?s own dovecot packages (2.3.7 at the time of writing this), but I would prefer we use your repositories like we do with 18.04. Kind regards, S?bastien -------------- next part

Debian Buster Samba 4.13 online (amd64/i386/armhf )
Hai, ? Debian Buster Samba 4.13 is now online on my repo. Info : https://apt.van-belle.nl/ With the release of 4.13 the following changes are going to happen in the repo's. Current (recently sended?list) OS-sambaXXXX with EOL wont be supported anymore, upgrade your OS and/or Samba versions! EOL repo's will stay online for about 6 months, that gives sufficient time to upgrade.

CRAN R 4.0.0 for Ubuntu repos missing r-recommend dependency
I noticed that R 4.0.0 is now available for ubuntu on CRAN. I attempted to do a clean install on 18.04 using: sudo apt install r-base after adding deb https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu bionic-cran40/ to /etc/apt/sources.list. Unfortunately, apt reports that r-recommend is a dependency and it won't be installed. Upon inspecting the R4.0 repos r-recommend is missing not only for

hai, ? To explain this a bit more. All my repo's are set per os and samba version. So as long you dont change the sambaXXX version, you stay on that version and minimze risk with changes in samba. Its always :? http://apt.van-belle.nl/debian? And all you change is :??? buster-samba412? Current available versions are : stretch-samba410 stretch-samba411 buster-samba411 buster-samba412

Advice on article about installing R on Linux
Dear list, I've drafted an article on installing geographic R packages on Linux computers and would appreciate any feedback. Is the following text correct, useful and future-proof?: R?s spatial packages can be installed from source on recent (since Ubuntu 19.04) versions of this popular operating system, once the appropriate repository has been set-up, meaning faster install times (only a

Samba broken after dist-upgrade in Ubuntu 20.04?
Hello, I installed updates today on my Ubuntu 20.04 and after that, Samba was disabled/masked/not installed at all. Even attempting to install samba again reports: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of

Seive + Spamprobe terminates with signal 6
Ubuntu 20.04, Dovecot 2.3.7.2, SpamProbe v1.4d. For the past weeks my sieve filters that call spamprobe have been crashing out for some users. I have a dozen similar server setups and this is not happening on any of the other servers and it was working just fine for a year up until recently. This particular server is quite busy. There is plenty of disk space and inode usage is about 2.5%.

R 4.0 for ARM processors
Thank you very much, Dirk. That nudge solved the problem, of course. I am embarrassed. I was so fixated on Ubuntu repositories that I neglected to check the Debian 'testing' world! Regarding the RPi: The RPi 4 uses the 'arm64' architecture, the full 64-bit one. I stopped using dedicated distros, such as Raspian, when Ubuntu went all-in on RPi support, which happened in their
