Cannot log in to IMAP server and logs are unclear as to why
Hi Aki, Thanks for the response. I'm, unfortunately, a little confused. This is the only line in /etc/dovecot/users: test at test.com:{plain}test Which matches your suggestion to use the full smtp address as the username and log in with it, which I did for my test. Can you specify what it was you thought I should try differently? Regardless, I see your point about trying a less complex

Cannot log in to IMAP server and logs are unclear as to why
I?m trying a super basic config based upon https://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/PostfixDovecotLMTP but before I work on shipping mail through Postfix to DoveCot, I wanted to make sure IMAP is working first, but I can?t even get a basic login to so I thought I?d see if the gurus on the list might be able to point out I?m doing wrong. The documentation is pretty good, but there were some gaps I had to

Make world problem compiling Xen 4.0.1 from source
Greetings, Xen gurus! Per the Ubuntu community documentation at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Xen#Maverick%20Notes%20(Xen%204.0.1%20pvops%20on%20Ubuntu%2010.10) I am trying to install Xen 4.0.1 from source which I got from bits.xensource.com/oss-xen/release/4.0.1/xen-4.0.1.tar.gz because apparently the ubuntu-xen-server package has broken dependencies. The instructions as provided state

multiple logins that use the samemailbox
Version: 2.2.27 (c0f36b0) Hi, I inhertited a mailsetup that allow users to login to pop/imap with up to three different user names for the same mailbox. We use SQL and I think I can manage that with just pointing to the same mailbox with the same userid. But I also use the quota plugin. And the quota plugin users the username (full e-mail address) to identify a mailbox. That can probably be

Cannot log in to IMAP server and logs are unclear as to why
Hi Aki, Again, thanks very much for your response. Your solution of adding the colons worked. Actually, I futzed with it a little bit and it works with as few as 2 added colons. This is interesting since in the examples section of https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/authentication/passwd_file/ it explicitly states: ----------------------- This file can be used as a passdb:

(no subject)
OK, so after several weeks of trying to get various versions of Xen running of various distributions, I''m starting to wonder if I''ve got a hardware compatibility problem and as the system never really boots with the Xen kernel I''ve got no log files to tell me where the problem is. I was wondering if there''s a way to compile from source with debug turned on,

Cannot log in to IMAP server and logs are unclear as to why
Hi! I tried with your config and I got: Jun 05 08:43:30 auth-worker(11465): Error: passwd-file /etc/dovecot/users: User test at test.com is missing userdb info This is because your line is missing sufficient amount of colons, try changing test at test.com:{plain}test into test at test.com:{plain}test::::::::::: Aki > On 05/06/2020 02:31 Scott A. Send SPF SoftFails to Junk
Hello Dovecot gurus, I've set up SPF checking on my postfix gateway and have confirmed that messages from domains set with hard fails that don't come from a good sender are rejected outright. Messages from domains set with a softfail that come from bad sources are tagged in the message header with "Softfail (domain owner discourages use of this host)", but end up in the

Non-customizable parts in the routes hierarchy-chain.
Hi I created a custom route that looks like this: map.connect '':controller/:table/:action/:id'' Hierarchically, :table is above :action and :id. So, if we call ActionController::Base#url_for with an argument :table=>nil, we''re supposed to get a url with :action and :id set to nil as well. However, this is not the case: url_for(:table=>nil) from

mail without mta
Dear list! I'd like to know if some- one has experience with system running no mta (aka sendmail). I have single comp, not server, not lan. Yes! Sendmail is nice, but it is too big for simple tasks I have for it. My intention is to use apps small as possible. This letter gone from mutt directly to ssmtp, that processed it to my isp. SPECIAL-USE and Outlook folders
Hi, in the recent version of Outlook seem impossible to remap the Sent (but also Drafts) folders in order to show as the localized name. I have enabled the "special_use" in 10-mailbox.conf but still is not working: namespace inbox { ? inbox = yes ? location = ? mailbox Drafts { ??? auto = subscribe ??? special_use = \Drafts ? } ? mailbox Sent { ??? auto = subscribe ???

autocreating folders with special chars stored in mysql-userdb
Hello, i use dovecot 2.2.18 and do some tests with an utf8 mysqlbackend. I use MySQL to authenticate Users and for retrieving some individual settings like autocreating folders etc. by userdb-settings in user-query. Yet no problems with standard language. Now i try to provide userdb-settings in exotic languages. My MySQL table uses utf8 charset. I store some data in my userdb-column. Here an

Problem with Thunderbird and mailbox with SPECIAL-USE flag
Hi ! I have an old Courier IMAP and in front of it, I have put a proxy cache with the great Dovecot. SOGo webmail is connected to the proxy and works great (very very more fast) but I have a problem with Thunderbird : mailbox with ? SPECIAL USE ? aren't automatically detected. To make that works, I must : - in Dovecot : define the namespace inbox : ? prefix = ? and ? separator = . ? - in
