FW: Register Today for Fall 2005 VON: "The Destination for IP Communications"
Anyone able to get me a comp/highly discounted ticket to this? $150 just to visit the exhibition halls sounds crazy? Local access to IMAP mailboxes
Dear Colleagues, I have made mailboxes in ~/Mail available via IMAP (Dovecot 2.3.2.1), that is: "mail_location = mbox:~/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u" However, I often read and modify the mailboxes locally with mutt (e.g. append and delete mails). Should I expect any problems wit Dovecot indexes etc? What if I even do "rm ~/Mail/some/mailbox", will Dovecot be mad at me? --

no bookeeping using public folders
Using dovecot 1.0.10. In the config: namespace public { separator = / hidden = no prefix = Flock/ location = maildir:/home/baratin/PublicMaildir:CONTROL=~/Maildir/control/Flock:INDEX=/var/dovecot/index/%u/Flock } This should be a public mail folder owned by "baratin", "read only" for all other users. Every user has his/her own control and index area

Slow performance with large folders over the Internet
Dovecot package version is 1:1.2.15-7+deb6u1. It is in Debian 6.0.10, using the Debian package. The server is in my basement at home, and is exposed to the Internet so I can fully access my mail from anywhere. I use IMAP for reading mail. I have a number of folders in my mailbox that have thousands of messages in them, from mailing lists. When I'm at home, I have a LAN connection to the

dovecot (mutt?) tells me I have new email (when I don't)
Hi, does anyone else, whilst using mutt, have the problem where you read your new email - then change to another mailbox, *then* mutt tells you that you have new email in the mailbox you just read!? It seems to only happen when I: a) receive email in, say, =mi b) change to, and read email in =mi c) hit 'c' to change to next-unread mailbox d) mutt says "New mail in

HP Probook 6570b - Unable to locate configuration file
Hi, We currently use pxelinux and tftp-hpa for pxe booting new machines and installing our OS of choice. This has worked great for the past year, and just about every HP laptop we've tried so far has worked flawlessy, until now...? We recently bought a bunch of HP ProBook 6570b laptops but couldn't get them to work with our pxelinux setup. What we see is that the 6570b stops at the

dovecot pop3s delivers new messages as old (unread) messages ...
I just set up dovecot on fedora core 3 with only pop3s protocol enabled. On my client machine, I use fetchmail to get the mail and then go through procmail and eventually ready by mutt. Everything seems to work fine, except that all new emails are marked old unread emails (i.e., marked with 'O' flag instead of 'N'). This is annoying because some open source lists are so large

[OT] Fetchmail and Mutt help
Hi All, I setup Fetchmail and wanted to use Mutt to read e-mail. I used to use Pine and I just am sick of GUI e-mail clients these days. Bloat, complication and unreliable. Pine was my first ever e-mail client. I prefer to use POP still as I want may mail on my machine at all times. I can go into mutt and execute: 'fetchmail -v' and watch it bring down my e-mail. But in mutt i dont see

debian unstable : mutt polling imap mailboxes
Package: dovecot Version: 0.99.10.4-2 I am accessing my IMAP folder on my ~/Maildir using mutt via Dovecot and I have this problem whereby mutt incorrectly reports I have new mail in a "mailboxes" polled mailbox. This happens all the time when I press the key bound to change mailbox. I use courier IMAP at school, and I have not experienced this problem. A bug with dovecot or mutt?

Problems with listescape and mutt
Hello, we are using Dovecot 1.2.6 with activated listescape-Plugin. Mutt mutt seems to have a problem with listescape (or my configuration [1] is screwed). When I log in with mutt over imap an press "c", I see al the folders, .Trash, .Drafts etc. But when I try to change to .Drafts (for example), mutt gives me the error the he can't find the folder "\2eDrafts". Is this

Looks like a bug to me: Dovecot ignores Maildir/new timestamp
Hello! I run Debian jessie and have an issue with the interaction between Dovecot (2.2.13), Mutt (1.5.23) and the Android Gmail (5.8.105868218) IMAP client, when using Maildir: I use Dovecot LMTP for local delivery into Maildir and access these files both through Dovecot IMAP from the Android Gmail IMAP client and also directly through the filesystem by running Mutt locally on the mail server.

mutt execution by daemon
I have a user w/o a shell that runs an app as a daemon that needs to use mutt to email an attachment from a script. During testing when the app was ran as root everything worked:) Now that we obviously are running as a user w/o a shell this little bit broke. I used mutt as I needed to send the attachment as mime, and the ability to specify a muttrc from the cli when executed was useful so we

Logging in to a virtual users Maildir
Trying to set up a mailserver to run exim4, dovecot2, (clamav procmail or similar not yet installed) on a virtual machine & access it from various hosts mostly using Mutt. So far no attempt at encryption although there are some pem files from a previous attempt & some evidence from the mutt debug file they may be being used . So far I have attempted to set up dovecot to by accessed by

Terminal settings question.
Hiya folks, Maybe someone can help me with this question. I'm a long time mutt user. However in recent years, I have been a member of an increasing number of mail lists. And an increasing number of mail list users are starting to use special characters in their emails that my terminal is not understanding correctly. When it doesn't understand the character correctly, it starts to
