Sum of columns of a data frame equal to NA when all the elements are NA
Dear list users, let me ask you this trivial question. I worked on that for a long time, by now. Suppose to have a data frame with NAs and to sum some columns with rowSums: df <- data.frame(A = runif(10), B = runif(10), C = rnorm(10)) df[1, ] <- NA rowSums(df[ , which(names(df) %in% c("A","B"))], na.rm=T) If all the elements of the selected columns are NA, rowSums

Only in one mailbox I have a strange problem, sometime (in the last 2 month happens 3 times). All the mail (Except INBOX) and all folders disappear. THe space on disk remain allocated. To this mailbox are connected 3 computers (2 PC Windows 10, and 1 Mac OS). I cannot determine who

Sum of columns of a data frame equal to NA when all the elements are NA
What do you mean by "should not"? NULL means "missing object" in R. The result of the sum function is always expected to be numeric... so NA_real or NA_integer could make sense as possible return values. But you cannot compute on NULL so no, that doesn't work. See the note under the "Value" section of ?sum as to why zero is returned when all inputs are removed.

Valid users question
Hi, I've a question about the syntax of the valid users option. Any help is greatly appreciated! Here is the Background: samba 3.0.4 Linux as Domain Member Active Directory, not in Native Mode Compiler opions: --with-winbind --with-pam --with-smbmount The goal is to authenticate via the Windows Domain and allow access via Windows groups. The syntax in my smb.conf looks like this:

Server recommendation help
I am having a issues with adding a analog card to my dell 2800. I already have a t1 card installed and running fine but when I install the analog card asterisk will not start (ztcfg fails). I have determined it is because of a IRQ problem and have decided to get a new server. Can anyone suggest a server grade setup that supports this? I would rather not buy a machine that will be unstable. I

Sum of columns of a data frame equal to NA when all the elements are NA
No. The empty sum is zero. Adding it to another sum should not change it. Nothing audacious about that. This is consistent; other definitions just cause trouble. -pd > On 21 Mar 2018, at 18:05 , Boris Steipe <boris.steipe at utoronto.ca> wrote: > > Surely the result of summation of non-existent values is not defined, is it not? Should not the result be NULL if you have removed the NA with na.rm=TRUE ? Sum of columns of a data frame equal to NA when all the elements are NA
Surely the result of summation of non-existent values is not defined, is it not? And since the NA values have been _removed_, there's nothing left to sum over. In fact, pretending the the result in that case is zero would appear audacious, no? Bandwidth shapping device
I have a link to a building (e.g. 10Mb/s) and want to split up the bandwidth to different users. Each user should get e.g., 512kB/s plus 256kB/s dedicated for VoIP. What kind of device can I use for that ? (managing switch ??? which one?) bye Ronald Wiplinger

I see: consistency with additive identity. That makes sense. Thanks. B. > On Mar 21, 2018, at 1:22 PM, peter dalgaard <pdalgd at gmail.com> wrote: > > No. The empty sum is zero.
