Change dovecot hostname
Well, I tried setting the following in /etc/environment and restarting the
server:
DOVECOT_HOSTDOMAIN="mail.domain.test"
After doing so, I verified that the command "dovecot --hostdomain" returned
"mail.domain.test" and not "appserver4.domain.com"; however, the email
received header still shows:
Received: from mail.domain.test by appserver4.domain.com

[bug] Auth cache, proxy and ITERINDEX
Hi,
today we have exceprienced really major difficulties with our proxy
backend servers. Everything started after enabling auth cache:
auth_cache_size = 100M
auth_cache_verify_password_with_worker = yes
auth_cache_ttl = 1 hour
auth_cache_negative_ttl = 1 hour
Soon after we start receiving lots of calls from our customers about
'missing all e-mail messages'. This was in errors logs on

Automatic purging of old email in all mailboxes
I am using a postfix + Dovecot server as a test mail server for which some
applications in our test environment use as a target to deliver email so
that our real endusers don't receive messages from our test servers.
A few of the mailboxes in Dovecot receive hundreds of emails per day. I'd
like to automatically remove all emails in all mailboxes and mailbox
folders that were received

Dovecot Maildirs multi language
Hello,
I'm hosting a few customers on a dovecot Server. Most users speak german
and have german as their main language. I configured the IMAP Foldernames
in a Dovecot configuration file like this:

imap_capability = +XLIST
namespace inbox {
inbox = yes

Getting autoexpunge to work
dovecot 2.2.33.2 (d6601f4ec) on Ubuntu 18.04
The recent announcement that expunge is going to be deprecated and
that autoexpunge should be used instead reminded me that my recent
switch over to autoexpunge is not working.
There has been an active discussion today about getting expunge
working so I thought I'd use the commands suggested there to figure
out why autoexpunge might not be doing

Dovecot 2.2.27 proxy - enforcing per client IP connection limits
Hi,
mail_max_userip_connections is only enforced at the backend level. The setting has no effect on proxy. If you want to force the limit then you can only do it in the backend.

Issue with LMTP proxying and port number
Hello there,
Everything was working fine on Dovecot 2.2.10 (on CentOS 7), but after updating to version 2.2.36, our director servers are not able to proxy LMTP.
We are sending mail from exim to the local Dovecot LMTP socket, which then used to send it to our internal mail servers on port 24.
Besides the update, nothing has changed in the config files. The configuration has been working great

Intermittent IMAP Login failures - about 25% fail
New server & just added three domains:
now I see
"dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (auth failed, 1 attempts in 5 secs):

Plus all Outlook users keep being bounced and finally get in.
I am going to kill all the users soon...

Doveadm Backup (other) issues
Hello,
I also have issues using Dovecot Backup.
I am trying to Backup (or possibly Sync - one way) a single user IMAP

For that purpose, I defined the following parameters :

imapc_user = <user name>
imapc_password = <password>
imapc_features = rfc822.size

Which headers are you taking about?
If you're talking about Received: headers, that's usually inserted by
your MTA, not dovecot.

How do I make "vnd.dovecot.environment" available?
Hi all,
According to the docs at https://wiki.dovecot.org/Pigeonhole/Sieve, some extensions are not available by default.
The docs tell me the sieve_plugins, sieve_extensions and/or sieve_global_extensions configs are involved, but I can find no authoritative documentation as to what the values should be.
What values must I use to make ?vnd.dovecot.environment? available?
