preserving flags for shared mailbox when migrating from cyrus to dovecot
Dear all,
Despite all the progress we are making in our attempt to make the
migration as smooth and transparent for our users there are still some
important unsolved issues. One thing that I can't figure out is how to
preserve a user's flags that s/he has for mail in a shared mailbox.
So far we tried 'doveadm backup -R' as well as the cyrus2dovecot script
from here [1]. Both

Windows XP Machines (well mostly the XP ones) hanging
Hello Folks,
I will personally send $50(AU) of Pizza to anyone that solves this one :)
We have a network comprising approx 30 Windows workstations all logging in
to a samba machine running as a PDC. The main exported file system is an NFS
mounted file system, but this was happening back when this was an xfs file
system as well. ACL's are enabled. We are running Samba Version 2.2.8a. The

Replication and public folders with private (seen) flags
We started using Dovecot replication between two nodes and noticed that
our configured private flags (INDEXPVT) in public/shared mailboxes are
not replicated. We are only replicating INBOX namespace, as we dont want
to replicate content of shared mailboxes for every user again.
Is there a way to replicate the INDEXPVT or is that not (yet) implemented?

[PATCH][RESEND] use autoconf MKDIR_P to reduce usage of legacy mkinstalldirs script
Basically all platforms have a proper "mkdir -p". Autoconf has install-sh as
fallback when using AC_PROG_MKDIR_P, which is also hardened against races if
it is recent enough. Update that script and use MKDIR_P whereever possible.
Installs fine in my tests and avoids the "mkdir: cannot create directory '?':
File exists" messages along the way.
Greetings,
Eike

doveadm mailbox delete not working
Hi,
the thing I'm actually looking for is that whether the sync causes the folder to be restored, so it might be a better idea for you to try and spot this from the logs. I assume that as an SP that you are using mail_log plugin, so that might be useful to spot if this happens. You can also try looking at the UIDVALIDITY value of the folder, it usually corresponds to the creation unixtime.

from Cyrus to Dovecot, seen status on cyrus.index files
Hello,
Using cyrus2dovecot (https://github.com/a-schild/cyrus2dovecot) I have
migrated some test mailboxes from Cyrus (2.4.17) to Dovecot (2.2.9).
The problem I'm having is that the seen status is in cyrus.index files,
which cyrus2dovecot doesn't understand.
Does anyone use cyrus2dovecot for migrations? If so, how do you deal with
seen status when it is stored in the .index files?

asset_host and ActionMailer
After digging through the rails code to figure out why my asset_host
wasn''t getting applied to emails, I realized that it''s because the
config object in the context of a mailer is config.action_mailer and
not config.action_controller. This means you need to set asset host
separately for emails, as config.action_mailer.asset_host.
Should this be considered a bug? Is it really

Private message flags in shared mailboxes
I'm wondering a bit how these should work. Comments welcome.
In v2.2 the recommended way to enable private flags for shared mailboxes is to create private indexes with :INDEXPVT=<path>. This creates dovecot.index.pvt[.log] files which only contain message UIDs and flags. The indexes are updated somewhat lazily by updating them whenever user has the shared mailbox opened and it gets

[OT] Apple Mail.app access to localhost imap when no network
Hello,
Sorry for the offtopic subject, but I tried asking this on some Apple
mailing lists and could not find an answer there, and as it's related
to imap (provided by dovecot), someone might know something about this.
The problem is the following: I have a local IMAP server provided by
dovecot, so that I can store my mail in maildir format, and read it
both using mutt and Apple

SIP 603 Declined error message
I have a SIP trunk from my Asterisk server to an Avaya CM server. If I place calls inbound, everything works fine. If I place calls outbound, originating from the Asterisk box, everything works fine (I have done this with the use of the .call files). If I setup an extension with the findme-followme feature and have it try to hair-pin a call back out the same trunk to the Avaya, I get a

Feedback about Vorbis Comment Chapter Extension
Hallo again!
Some month ago we discussed about the Vorbis Comment Chapter Extension:
http://wiki.xiph.org/Chapter_Extension
I got some critics about this specification, especially from the VLC
developers:
see https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/6895
Some parts of it:

This specification allows holes between chapters and allows overlapping
chapters... And does not explain what to

Dovecot 2.2.31 with mailboxes in mdbox format.
Since a couple of days some mailboxes have the problem, that sieve rules
moving mails to folders stop working and .sieve.log in mailbox shows:

LMTP, TLS/SSL, authentication, proxy
Folks,
Several questions packed into one email ;)
Can dovecot use TLS/SSL on LTMP inet socket?
Can I configure dovecot to only let an authenticated user deliver mail
via LMTP?
Can I tell dovecot to use a user/password for proxying LMTP connections?
All this is related to my quest to move from cyrus to dovecot
transparently to our users. And if any of the above questions can be

LMTP during dsync migration
Hi all,
Another question regarding migration. While migrating a mailbox with
dsync is it safe to deliver mail via LMTP to the new (target) mailbox or
is it wiser to deactivate LMTP delivery to this mailbox until it's fully
migrated?
And what methods could I use to stop delivery to a mailbox during
migration? Our user data is stored on an LDAP server.
Cheers,
