NEWS.md support on CRAN
John MacFarlane, the author of Pandoc, has been working on a project ( http://commonmark.org/) to define a standard reference for Markdown*. There are already two reference implementations, one in javascript, the other in C: https://github.com/jgm/cmark Regards, baptiste * There was some initial controversy with the original author of markdown, but in the long term it's probably one of the

iscsi storage creation
Hi, I have set up a 40GB iscsi target on my san and when I add it in to the storage pool and it shows up as 40GB. When I try to create a 40GB volume in the ovirt UI it tries to but fails. The error message is that the volume will not fit. If I create one smaller than 40GB it works. Is anyone else experiencing this? Also, if I then start a virtual machine up to install on the newly

24G running on centos 5 desktop.
Hi All, Thought I would let those that are interested know that I had success in running 24G on an Asus P6T with 24G kit of Kingston DDR3. While I was putting this together I saw lots of forum posts asking if anyone had tried it. Well we did here at our work and all looks great including running "memtest86" overnight. I have a fluid dynamics simulation running on it with 90% memory

Cannot open: No space left on device
I have a VBox VM running CentOS 6.7 and I want to extract the content of a 14G tar file. I'm doing as: *tar -xvf www.tar.gz* But I am getting a lot of errors like the ones shown below: html/elclarinweb.dev/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/12-Aura-?vila-400x320.jpg tar: html/elclarinweb.dev/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/12-Aura-?vila-400x320.jpg: Cannot open: No space left on device

Local disk rsync
I've done quite a bit of looking, but I haven't found an answer that answers this question. Environment: cygwin on Windows rsync 3.0.4 I know that rsync isn't optimzed for speed on local copies - that's clear in my testing. I'm attemting to sync a large volume of files. (In this case, I'm syncing a rdiff-backup set...) An initial sync will be about one fourth as fast a

mariadb server memory usage
Hi, is this ok for a database server, or do I need to turn the memory allowance down? The machine has 48GB and mariadb is allowed about 40. The machine is a dedicated database server. Mysql seems to go up to what top says is virtually allocated under some circumstances; I don?t know what mariadb does. I don?t want anything get killed because memory runs out. Swap should prevent that anyway,

question about bigmemory: releasing RAM from a big.matrix that isn't used anymore
Hi all, I'm on a Linux server with 48Gb RAM. I did the following: x <- big.matrix(nrow=20000,ncol=500000,type='short',init=0,dimnames=list(1:20000,1:500000)) #Gets around the 2^31 issue - yeah! in Unix, when I hit the "top" command, I see R is taking up about 18Gb RAM, even though the object x is 0 bytes in R. That's fine: that's how bigmemory is supposed to
