Intermittent IMAP Login failures - about 25% fail
New server & just added three domains: now I see "dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (auth failed, 1 attempts in 5 secs): user=<username.companyname>, method=PLAIN, rip=1.1.1.1, lip=99.99.99.99, TLS, session=<kw6Y2NYviQBex5Un>" Plus all Outlook users keep being bounced and finally get in. I am going to kill all the users soon... Not too many files open, nor bandwidth,

Dovecot Master User: Access user's mailbox without owner's password
Hi, I hope you're all right. I describe below the scenario where the problem occurs. I'm trying to activate a master user [1] to be able to access all the boxes of all users by imap. I have configured the dovecot-master-users [2] file with the appropriate permissions. When I try to access, for example with roundcube, through user at mydomain.com*my_master_user at not-exist.com I see in the

Dovecot 1.2.13 intermittent authentication failures
Hey folks, I recently upgraded my mail server from an older OpenBSD -CURRENT snapshot to the latest (Aug 1). As part of this upgrade, I updated all of my packages to their latest versions. Since this upgrade, dovecot has begun failing to authenticate intermittently. I use it primarily for web mail (Squirrelmail 1.4.20) and leave myself logged in during the day. This problem manifests

Active Directory LDAP userdb and dovecot
Hello everybody, I have a problem with LDAP userdb and dovecot. Let me first explain my LDAP configuration: I got three Active Directory LDAP servers (a.galliera.it, b.galliera.it, c.galliera.it) responding round robin to the name galliera.it. I want to use LDAP for the userdb lookup, so I configured dovecot-ldap-userdb.conf.ext as follow: hosts = galliera.it # round robin base =

Segfault in auth (when talked to by postfix lda)
Afternoon all. I'm seeing a segfault in dovecot 2.2.12 (debian package 1:2.2.12-2). I can log into dovecot fine with mutt, but the segfaults seem to occur when postfix (2.11.0, debian package 2.11.0-1+b1) tries to deliver a message. This was working fine under 2.2.9 (I can downgrade to that and delivery works). Can anyone help? Doveconf -n, and backtrace follow.

Bug in fts (solr?, Maildir?) incorrect last_indexed_uid
Hi, I thought I should document this. (Dovecot 2.2.9, see config at bottom.) I installed dovecot and then converted a number of mbox mailboxes to Maildir, and had a number of pre-existing Maildir mailboxes. I then installed the debian (wheezy) fts-solar and jetty packages, and tested my inbox using the "telnet localhost imap ... 3 SEARCH text "test" method as described on the

dovecot 2.2.9 - ssl_cert and ssl_key ignored
Hello, It seems that Dovecot ignores the new /ssl_cert and ssl_key /settings. Using them in the dovecot configuration results in the error: Fatal: Couldn't parse private ssl_key: error:0906D06C:PEM routines:PEM_read_bio:no start line: Expecting: ANY PRIVATE KEY] Using the old /ssl_//cert//_file/ and /ssl_key_file/ results in their being obsolete warning but no fatal error.

When imapc can't connect to remote IMAP prevents user login (and blocks LDA)
Hi! I'm using dovecot 2.1.12-r1. When remote imap server rejects connections then I can't login into account and MTA can't deliver emails to maildir also. I'm attaching snippets of logs: 2012-12-15T18:05:43.072594+01:00 meteor dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<marcin at mejor.pl>, method=PLAIN, rip=2001:470:1f0b:1ab3:50af:bef4:6918:78ad, lip=2001:470:1f15:1b61::2,

Change dovecot hostname
I have noticed that the name of my private server running dovecot appears in email headers rather than the public-friendly name of my server. Is there a method to specify an alternate server name for the dovecot server to use for itself in the dovecot configuration files? I performed a few Google searches and was not able to find the answer to my question. ------- user at server1:~$ dovecot

Intermittent volume deterioration in conferences
I wonder if anyone can suggest ways to diagnose an infuriating problem being experienced by customers of a company I did a large Asterisk project for. First some background: The system is a conferencing system using a modified MeetMe. There are seven Asterisk boxes (we call them bridges) each with four T1 PRIs into a TE405P. No VoIP is involved. A conference is always local to a single bridge.
