dovecot shared folder
I try to create a shared directory in dovecot.
When accessing ( from roundcube) i can't subscribe or list the namespace.
It looks like I don't have rights.
This is an extract from debug log:
When I try to create a new folder in "Public" (i don't have rights, but i can
try) loooks like the process crash:

Aw: Dovecot - Postfix Calender Synchronisation
I can't say you are wrong ( you can better use a hammer.. ) but caldav
is more or less web based.
I like the approach in kolab ( store contact in mailboxes, it works with
dovecot, I have few server using it) but there is no usable client side
implementation. I tried to fix the synckolab plugin for thunderbird in
the past ( it works but i'm afraid some parts should be rewritten ) but

"Temporary authentication failure" ? Cant connect with ldap user
Is there a good, foolproof dovecot-openldap tutorial that walks you through
the steps and works with the newest version of both softwares?
I'm giving up and starting anew.

tests with metadata module
--Repost after subscription as list member ---
I made some tests with metadata support in dovecot 2.2.10.
Previously I had dovecot 2.2.4 with external metadata plugin who work well.
I use dovecot with roundcube and roundcube plugins from kolab project .
First, the feature activation was tricky and rather undocumented.
I spent about half hour googling, after that I set:
imap_metadata = yes

Ms Exchange vs dovecot
I was wondering about the sieve rules, because I thought they were
executed during mail delivery in the lmtp process. You can also 'guess'
this a bit from syntax of the rules or the single file they are stored
in. Thus if you 'drag' messages between folders, they are not executed.
Off topic:
I know Exchange is a different solution. What I think is stupid, is that
they store

how to separate virtual delivery and authentication?
I have a "pure ldap" setting with postfix and dovecot.
When using dovecot delivery, the recipient is checked via ldap.
The same ldap query is used when authenticate.
So, if I want to authenticate with the uid , I can't use a filter like uid=%u
because the delivery will fail. I don't want to use %nor something else
because I could use multiple e-mail addresses on a single

Cyrus IMAPd provides exactly that, easily ;-)

Dovecot version mismatch - after restart
Getting the followng error when managesieve is enabled. Any other post I've
read says this problem is because the service hasn't restarted after
upgrade. I've restarted dovecot & postfix many times, reboot machine too.
Still get the error. Racking my brains on this!!

Looking into a solution for Caldav (and possibly carddav) support
Cyrus may offer the best implementation of cards and calendars ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_CalDAV_and_CardDAV_implementations ) but would you trade its imap for dovecots own?
I am starving for an open-source card and calendar solution that is sound and secure, so cyrus is a good candidate, but I need it to go along with the existing structure, i do not want to start fresh with

That was it.? I assumed that the firewall was disabled because iptables
was empty.? The firewall was using nftables.
Once I disabled the firewall, things started working.
Thanks for your help!

Repository for latest Samba 3.x packaged for Ubuntu Trusty 14.04?
Greetings,
10 years ago, I utilized Samba official repositories for Debian Sarge to always run the latest Samba code while the Samba PDC support stabilized.
I am not quite ready yet for the Active Directory world.
Ubuntu Trusty 14.04 is the latest LTS (Long Term Support) version. It comes with Samba 4.x code.
Is there a repository with packages regularly maintained for Ubuntu Trusty 14.04 of

apt.llvm.org: Ubuntu Trusty update rate
Hello all,
For CI testing of LDC with LLVM trunk we use CircleCI, which offers
Ubuntu Trusty 14.04. We use apt.llvm.org, but the latest update of the
"nightly" package is now more than a month ago. Previously the update
rate was once a week, which was OK as it meant that we only had a few
days of test breakage after an API change (and after a dev updated LDC
to build with a locally
